Nice find :) Wharfedale used to be one of the best speaker manufacturers around. The 20w RMS isn't bad for a smallish room either. I wonder if this can be multi-region hacked?

That's good :) Notice the 5.1 speakers too, maybe the DVD player has 5.1 output even though it's just got the 2.1 in the ad...

Ray, the pic from DVDreviewer is slightly misleading and correspond to DVD 5.1 Micro System.

Wharfedale WMTS-6801 DVD 5.1 Micro System is now £79.99 at Argos (was £119.99)

Thanks edi, I should have looked on there. It's quite a nice little unit, ideal for someone with not too much room for all the electricals we use these days. 35w RMS, the second one is the best option and woth paying the extra £30 for I think.

The UK Wharfedale sold the name off to a chinese company years ago tho' so not a good indication of quality. Having said that, looks a bargain for £50. :-D

Thanks for the extra info jbp :)

I think they still make quality HiFi gear, but of course it's much more expensive than these, which were more than likely made in China then ;)

Not everything made in China is sub standard. Same as here really, you get what you pay for in most instances.

Dude thanks for that info, I always wondered why no-one gets excited about Wharfedale anymore. I bought some Wharfedale Diamond speakers about 15 years ago, they were only aobut one foot high but cost me well over £100 for the pair. Awesome sound, 70watters they were.

I think for £49.99, you cant go wrong. Again as Ray suggests, it may be worth spending £30 extra and go for the DVD 5.1 system.

Can anyone confirm that the multi-region hack works for this (49.99) unit? At least one post on a different forum suggests that it does not. Thanks.

Boydetective,

I found the hacking procedure from DVDreviewer.co.uk and corresponds to Wharfedale WMTS-6801 system.

I would have thought it should work, but cant confirm this. :)

Anyone know if this is VCD compatable.
I have 2 dvd players at the moment (from when dvd players where £150+) and they dont play VCD or AVI :x
So if this is vcd compatable i would be most happy! (CD-R).
I have loads of small speakers to make this 15:1 if i wanted too lol so 2.1 is ok for me!

Comment from VCDHelp

You can play vcd and svcd's after setting the wmts-6801 as multi-region using the hack. Otherwise out of the box it won't.
