So who needs built-in Freeview? There's millions of Sky users out here for whom this will be perfect; and until Sky+ comes with a built in DVD recorder (which, being cynical, will be after they've sold as many existing Sky+ boxes as possoible and they need a new gimmick to make everyone dump their old one and buy a new box...), this is perfect. And cheap. And the Ewharfedale box is excellent!

Heat and rep added.

yes Ive heard of Wharfdale speakers, I have a set that are nearly 20 years old and cost £100 at the time. They are unbelievably good. Wharfdale in 2008 are not the same company. They are now probably the worst brand on the market and are mass manufactured to the lowest standards.

The best freeview box in my house is a Wharfedale model. It may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive boxes, but it picks up a signal where other boxes won't.

There are loads of brands I would rate lower than Wharfedale.

I think you need to get your facts straight. Some Wharfedale products now are actually made by Sony / TVonics. Why would any company set out to make goods to the 'lowest standards'?

i got one of these but it appears to only receive tv broadcasts in mono, although it plays pre-recorded DVD's in stereo.

Have i got a faulty unit or is that how its meant to be?
