For £40 these are still a great buy with a sound beyond this price.

Yes, they are always dropping to this price, so dont pay more . . .

But at £40 . . . always a good buy so worth a heads up when they go on offer - as the heat over the years shows. :)

They aren't always this price but are during special offers. They are pretty decent though!

They regularly drop to this price. If you don't get them this time they'll be back to this price in a couple of months.

I've got them as front height speakers. Getting the best out of them now with a new Denon receiver using Dolby Surround and Atmos. Just waiting for the DTSx and Neural firmware update to see how that performs.....HEAT for these little gems...

I've got these and as front heights and 9.1 series are my surrounds both using the same wall brackets if that helps. I've used 2 different types of bracket and mixed on both lots of speakers so looks to be universal.

I always found them too "polite" for home cinema use but I'm guessing that's unimportant with Atmos speakers.

might be worth checking on your amp as I got my DTSx software update last week this was for the avr-2200w

Heat added for the price and they are made by Wharfedale who know a thing or two about speakers.

I've got a Pioneer amp and sub, which allows me to adjust the base via remote.

Would I be able to adjust the base on these accordingly?

The speakers are independent of your amp, so whatever your amp can do these speakers will work with it. What I mean is that it's up to the design/configuration of your amp how it manages the bass sub independently of the stereo pair of speakers. The speakers are for replication of sound, they will produce bass, it's up to your amp to supply the bass to the speakers. The speakers in no way control the sound, your amp does, so look to your amp for how it manages bass output.

Lastly it's bass not base, base can't be used instead of the bass as it means something entirely different.

I've never found a decent keyboard on a phone/tablet, they're all autocorrect mad. Tired Google Keyboard, Swype, Swiftkey (horrible), and some other weird ones. Google Keyboard is what I use, just because I'm used to how it messes stuff up so I can correct it on the fly.

I wanna hook these bad boys up to a chromecast audio. Can anyone recommend a good mini amp that will do these justice?

Sorry if this is a dumb question (I'm not much of an audiophile!) but could I hook this up to a TV and if so what kind of connection would my TV need?

You should specify how much you are looking to spend !

There is this 40WPc power amp Audiolab reduced from £500 to £179 !

Never a dumb question on here - just dumb people calling you dumb to avoid facing up to their dumbness.

Looking to spend under £50 really. Not to much of an audiophile so a bit of quality loss won't keep me up at night.

That's quite a challenge ! I would suggest that Ebay might be the best place to start. Are you just looking for a power amp or a streamer / receiver device ?

easy.
you want a tripath amp.
you can pick up a lepy 2024+ for £20ish probably less or a topping tp30 for about 50.

i own both and i have my topping hooked up with a chromecast to the diamond 9s. excellent stuff.

These are passive speakers (unpowered) You need an amp with them, for them to work from a source like a TV.

do I have to plump them every night in 6 different ways so they keep their shape? Also do they sell a 'care kit' for £80?

Denon RCD-M40DAB

Don't go in for all the audiophile BS. I have a Grundig stereo amp and power amp made in 1980 and it's as good as the Denon I just bought. The Denon sounds very good though. I'm using Heybrook Helios speakers with it, which were made in around 1998. The reason I got the Denon is so that I could use optical connections. The Chromecast audio sends out optical and is managed with the Google Cast app from the Play Store.

http://www.richersounds.com/product/mini-hi-fi/denon/dm40-dab/deno-dm40-blk

If there's not enough bass output for you then you can connect a subwoofer to the subwoofer output on the back of the amp. I have the Chromecast Audio connected to optical 1 and my TV connected to optical 2.

Well after my own previous experiences with RS I only use them on price never on service, although complaints before now have always been addressed and then I have had good prices....however in this instance you really cannot blame them for the upsell.....when you phoned you should have reserved them (they do allow reservations, usually even without a deposit), at this price and finite stocks it would have been the sensible thing to do.

However, if you did reserve them and they did not have them when you made the special journey you would have cause for complaint, granted.
