I got this box a couple of weeks ago. Most of the reviews recommended the Wharfedale DV832B and indeed I am quite happy with it. Usually cost twice as much.

If this is the same one that argos do, i also had this box.
Found it not to be too good tbh.
Slow reaction time from pressing a button on the remote, bad signal (better on other boxes), and froze sometimes requiring a switch off + on.
All of the cheapo boxes have been a bit rubbish tbh.

not a bad price though

if this is the same as the argos one then i found it to be excellent. been using one for quite a while and its great.
fantastic signal and picture. very responsive and good electronic programme guide.

would recommend

Excellent price. I bought this box myself a couple of years ago and altough it is rated as one of the best on the market the one I got sufered from sound drop-outs altough I think that may be fixed with a firmware flash.

I have this box, it's ok. Nothing special. The EPG doesn't let you watch a channel in the corner when you flick to 7 day mode which is annoying at times. I've not had any issues with this freeview box, which was bought to replace another that kept losing channels. The ones at Ebuyer are grade A though, mine was a new one from Argos, so I'm going to stay neutral on this one. Not cold, but not hot either. Cheap n cheerful, shame about the postage cost!

Any set top box can only perform as well as it aerial and digital signals are transmitted at a lower strength than analogue.
To see what's recommended for your area put your postcode in here
http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe?

Remember most of these predictions are based on an outdoor aerial at a height of 10M
#15
That depends greatly on the signal strength in your area.

I happily use an indoor aerial which sits on top of my tv and receives all the available freeview channels with ease.

I live around 7 miles from the crystal palace transmitter.

How typical, a deal pops up 2 days after I bought an Alba STB8 for £18.99, although with postage the saving isn't that much. Good deal though.

Yeah and you have tested them all? fool

Great buy but when you add the postage it comes out at £15. Asda are selling freeview at £15 so more cost effective to go there I think - especially if you need to return during the guarantee. Shame its not free postage!

I bought one of these 18 months ago it kept locking up requiring a full mains on/off reset (I updated firmware as available). It died completely one month out of warranty. I now have 2x Alba STB8 and a Sony HXD 870 HDD DVD recorder with built in Freeview. All of these are more sensitive than the 832B was and are more stable. Would not buy a 832B at any price.

I VOTE THIS VERY COLD

Just ordered one, its cheaper than replacing the zapper, on my current box, which has stopped working.

already people are moaning that they cannot afford to go digital and poor people are going to be given free boxes , why cant they start saving even 50p a week , time the switch over they got £25 to buy one

Good offer, just purchased one!
