Sorry, would never buy a Wharfedale anything - I have found than to be extremely poor quality, at any price, for any of their products. Their speakers used to be great, but ever since they sold their name, they have gone down hill in my eyes

Voted cold - I would vote cold, even if it was selling for a tenner!

This is a good buy, this is just a fiver more than the hdmi player.Reserved one.

Non Freeview like Toshiba HD-DVD players / recorders will be priced as bargains but in two- three years time they will be increasingly going to recycling centres

i'm sorry but "mono sound" is stupid. voted cold. go to asda give one of theirs a try for £56 or whatever it is.

It is not mono sound, it just has the option for this, sound options are all the usual stereo settings

Bought it, exchanged it, returned it.

The picture was no good recording from the in/out scart lead. I tried two different recorders from Argos. I won't be trying a 3rd

Bought this and when I connect it to my TV, the TV loses its 16:9 ratio and to get it back I have to remove the DVD recorder and unplug the TV. Anyone any idea why?

check the manual of the recorder. You must have the recorder set to 4:3 output.

Thanks for the help and I'd love to be able to check that, but now there is a disc stuck in it and it has been saying preparing for about 25 mins. Sigh.

Are you positive you have the same model and it plays divx?

If so, then this really is a top deal!
