They are also doing the 47 inch for an extra £200.

I bought the 42inch for this price last November, after seeing it posted on here. If you check back through my posts, you should find the original thread, plus some pics.

Fantastic TV, all of my friends and relatives have been impressed by it.

One friend was so impressed that he wanted one for himself, so I advised him when I saw this deal. He went down to his local Argos, and managed to get a 3 year warranty thrown in too.

Hoppe this helps someone out there

I've owned this set since just before Christmas, without any problems whatsoever. I was lucky to get it for £499 + free 3 year warranty, which also protects against accidental damage!

Bluray looks fantastic on it and all consoles look fine either via component, vga or hdmi. At the time I bought it, the cheapest 42" 1080p TV on the market was close to £800, so it represented real value for money. Nowadays, the competition has come down in price quite a bit, but I'd still recommend this unit to anyone.

Too right.

While alot of the competition has come down in price, this set does offer superior functionality for the price range. The Argos spec does not mention that this has Picture-And-Picture (PAP) functionality, this has been a Godsend for when I want to watch the footie for instance, and Mrs. Oswald wants to watch the soaps. Have searched high and low for sets with this functionality, and very few have it, certainly at nowhere near this price.

glad you lot was happy with the tvs you bought in november last year
it was me that posted it on hotukdeals then
but as i already had a non hd 42" plasma couldnt really justify getting one
would have purchased one now but just purchased a philips 47" 100 hertz 1080p ambilight for £999 from amazon
normally retail at around £1600 again i seen it on hotukdeals
"cant work out if hotukdeals has saved me £600 or cost me £1000 (LOL)"
also got a 5 year extended warranty for an extra £125 from amazon too
and well happy with it

Good deal, but already posted by 'PermissionToRock' in today's earlier 'Argos Bank Holiday sale' thread.

He did this to avoid multiple deals being posted from the same sale all over the HUKD site.

Apologies, I did scan the electrical deals, and do a general search for "Wharfedale" across all categories before posting.

It is an admirable aim, to try and declutter the boards; but to be honest, if I am looking for a TV for instance, I tend to confine my searches to the electrical boards, and so a general posting such as the Argos sale will pass me by.
