Boffer is fine, I've ordered several things. Their service was great when I received a faulty item too.

For this price, you wouldn't expect it to be any good
#11
wow the review are really bad :-) but then for under £7 to be honest you got to expect it to be a bit rubbish. great as a sort of throw away mp3 player, take it to the beach if you accidentally drop it in the sea.... who cares it was crap anyway :-D

I got a couple of 2gb Wharfedale players from Argos when they were £17. Not this model. Sound was okay, but the controls failed on them both wihin a few months. Build quality was very poor.
#13
Wow thanks!...created a Boffer and twitter acount and received free shipping!

This is defo a good deal but I cannot understand why "Wharfedale" - a high end manufacturer of Hifi separates - licences out its name to rebadge some cheap chinese manufactured products - dirt cheap MP3 players included.

It defo dilutes the brand because when items like this fail - which they often do after a few months - people associate the brand with cheap tat.

This is a good buy but don't expect genuine Wharfedale acoustics :)

Hot for a tenner.

Recently bought a wharfdale mp3 2Gb off UKDVDR.
Also appeared a great deal on the face of it.
It was poor, very little in the way of instructions, the lcd display was blank.
Although you could put music on it, you could not see the tracks you wanted on the screen.
Returned for refund. UKDVDR returns a performance, didn't get re-imbursed for shipping.

Just a warning really, that these wharfdale "branded" mp3's are very cheap items and not that great.

I did plump for a Sansa Clip, from Cdiscount. Great item and has back up from Sandisk to go with it.
It did cost a little more ( i think £19) but was well worth it.

As 'bemad' says really, you will get what you pay for, i just wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed

ordered, ideal for my 4 yr old to listen to in the car so we don't have to listen to the chipmunks album again and again, althouhg as before he does have his eye on my iPod!!

hot for this price.

The price is too good for a 2GB device...Thanks...Voted hot!!!:santa:

Do not let the brand tempt you.
Yes the price makes it a hot 'deal' but that doesnt mean you should buy it.

These are the standard cheap chinese mp3 player you see on auction sites / holidays to dodgy places. Like those imitation ipods they have really bad device software that will refuse some mp3's for no apparent reason and crash alot. It will probably get hot after a little while of useage and the battery life will be terrible.

Please save up your pennies for a bit longer and buy something actually useful that deserves to be called an mp3 player. Even one of the little memory stick sized two-line LCD screen ones would be better than this. Something sony or samsung would be recommended.

AVOID like swine flu.

You must be old.:whistling: Wharfedale haven't made decent stuff in years I think they are now under the same company as Goodmans.

Goodmans is part of IAG (International Audio Group) now, which owns many of the most famous 'British' hifi brands (Audiolab,Castle, Mission, Quad etc). Bemad's correct in that they do still make decent hifi speakers and pro-audio amps/speakers/mics etc (Wharfedalepro), but for some reason they also license the Wharfedale brand to Argos for use on Chinese tat.
#23
Thanks for leaping to my defence guys

Wharfedale do still make high end audio separates and you can pay several hundred quid for them if you want to.

But for an additional revenue stream they allow their name to be used to "rebadge" dirt cheap chinese audio and video products. Personally I think it is MAD that they do this - it's brand dilution. That's why you can get Wharfedale hi-fis for £20 at Argos whereas a bespoke Wharfedale Hi Fi could cost 25 times that !

Just be aware that the £20 hifi is not a "real" Wharfedale - it is a chinese brand with a rebadge.

This is happening more and more now......marketing people attach a "good" brand to a "cheap" product and it works because most people are blissfully unaware of what is going on. I have been duped myself with "Dunlop" gear in the past...........

This MP3 player is a good buy "for the money" but it isn't a Wharfedale and probably wouldn't look as attractive if it was called some other chinese type name.
