*** Some people are seeing a much higher price (£14.99) - this seems to be happening if you go via quidco or use offer links - going to the deal by the "go to deal button" might be best... **

One of the best from Studio Ghibli - possibly a mis-price as it's more than double this elsewhere...

I borrowed this review from Shinkansen "letrayas" @ Amazon - like the film it's just about perfect...

"The animated films from Studio Ghibli are easily the finest expressions of that art form around today. "Whisper of the Heart" is a simple, uncomplicated story of a 14 year old schoolgirl as she approaches adulthood. It is set in a contemporary Tokyo which is drawn so clearly it could almost have been photographed.

Shizuku is in her last year at junior high school and loves literature. She is clearly intelligent, but lacks direction and ambition. A chance encounter with a cat on a train leads her to a friendship with Seiji and a re-evaluation of the way her life is developing.

The story is not so much plot driven as character driven. There is no violence or aggression. There is no intergeneration conflict. In the school scenes there is a welcome absence of "competitive jock" and "prom queen" elements which seem to permeate American films.

Although this film is about a teenage girl, it is not a teenage film, but a real family film which can be enjoyed on many levels. Technically, this is "reality animation" which is as good as it gets. It is heartwarming, it has humour, it has insight.

This is a lovely film."

I found this thanks to a find-dvd.co.uk price alert

Thanks, just ordered. Price increases if you follow any of the discount links which might be why some are getting £14.99.

Very strange, first time I clicked on the link it was showing the cheap price, I then went through Quidco and it still showed the cheap price...tried a discount link and now, even if I delete temp files and cookies, it only ever shows the expensive price...******! :x

HOT! Thanks wombat6025. I thought the title sounded familiar and saw from old emails that I had tried ordering this from cd-wow back in 2008 with a price tag of £7.99. Title was out of stock at the time and I was refunded. Never got around to ordering it again so here we go, let's hope bettter luck this time. Good price for a classic title.

How do yuo get it to come up at 3.20 ?

Sorry Ludo - I've not the foggiest what's going on here - some people are getting the £3.20 price - Krinkle reckoned it wouldn't work after going through quidco / offer links even when they cleared cookies / cache.

I've got an order at £3.20 "pending dispatch" - whether they'll honour it I'm not at all sure...

I'm totally baffled by this - why some people are fine even via quidco and how some people are seeing £15.49 and others £14.99.

Sorry

or you could record it from Film 4 next time it's on - but although the english dub is pretty good the original voice actors are really good on this...
