Brand New sealed boxes of these netbooks. Popped into the Oxford St store looking for the Pure radios when I came across these sat on the end of the aisle on clearance.

White units are £129.99, as well as some black ones for £149.99

Basic specs are 10.1" screen, Atom N270, 1GB ram, 250GB hdd and bluetooth.

I bought two, with my mate buying one. Three on the shelf when I left.

Not too sure if this is available in other stores or even online but they are out there.

Pic of receipt will go up later if required.

Good netbook. I purchased the same one with a smaller HDD two years ago for £279 and I'm still using it without any issues.

Excellent price. Heat added.

Guys whereabouts in the store are these located? On the second floor up the escalator?

I would love to get one but probably won’t be able to get there until late tonight, no doubt they will have sold out by then. :(

Good deal if you can get one. We have one from a Carphone Warehouse deal on here a year or so ago, we paid just short of £200 IIRC.

Tempted as the N510 has the 11.6" screen (I think)! Only problem would be heading into the London Underground at this time of day...chaos, noisy as hell and full of hacked off travellers...oh decisions, decisions! X)

Is this in the Oxford St store? So the N140's are sold out now?

With regards to the N510 it sounds like it from my what fellow member ron s london was saying, whilst member redface has confirmed the N140 netbooks are gone - hope that helps you out. :D

How does this rate against the Aspire One?
#20
Will check in my local HMV for this in the morning. My trusty old NC10 is on it's last legs.

Scotty Boy - Netbook Guru ! Good to see you!!...and perfect timing as always.

I need a netbook with XP, wireless, good keyboard, and it needs to be a bargain (I'm Scottish). For the good lady. She likes my NC10.

Got one of the aspire one 533 chaps from the argos e-bay outlet place, lovely, looking well built in my opinion but the wireless is temperamental, dead pixel that couldn't be in a worse place and it has that awful windows 7 starter OS. ( which I knew about on purchase in fairness). It's going back.

Almost all seem to be W7starter now :-(

What-da-ya say ? Any recommendations ?

There was a carry one for the AAO 533 model (from what I can remember) and the device drivers for the wireless card had to be updated to address connectivity issues but it the update didn't work for everybody...mmm, the problem is the bulk of the netbooks out there now will be bundled with W7 Starter Edition, so your only options would be:

(1) Keep an eye on eBay/resellers to see if any deals crop up for netbooks bundled with Windows XP Home Edition.
(2) Purchase Windows XP Home Edition and install it onto a netbook (ensuring that the model of netbook has full device driver support for Windows XP) to get yourself sorted out (of course make sure you make the necessary recovery CDs/DVDs before you kick off the install) - you can still see Windows XP on Amazon UK being available to purchase.
(3) Consider going down the second-hand route but of course that has it's hazards, as the warranty won't be there.

A150?

Same model of CPU but larger hard disk (AAO150 normally came with a 160GB hard disk), comes with bluetooth (which wasn't present on the AAO150) and a bigger battery (AAO150 came with a three cell model).

That's from what I remember off the top of my head! X)

Gutted, last netbook sold 10 mins before I got there :(

There were no other laptops/netbooks in the clearance section, even the bigger ones, all sold out. Hope that saves someone from a wasted trip. Oh and the guy in the window at the front of the shop doing that 127 hours challenge which I totally didn't see, scared the life outta me, I leant down to tie my lace up and he knocked against the window laughing, I screamed lol! X)

Yep, how embarrassing, security guard and a few passers by stopped to make sure I was ok, apparently I have a terrifying scream, good to know in case of an emergency I suppose :p
