Voted hot.
Like the water you boil them in....!

A whole lobster - not just a tail? At just about 11oz it would be a very tiny lobster, with all shell and guts and no meat. Sounds more like a crawdad (crayfish).

Cooking Instructions
This product is fully cooked.
Remove claws, simply grab the body with one hand and twist the claws and
knuckles with the other hand. Use care when holding the knuckle since it has
sharp protrusions that can hurt if not handled carefully.
Lay the body flat on a chopping board. Insert a sharp knife into the back of
the head and cut along the natural line down to the tail to cut the body in
half.

You may notice a green substance on the meat which is called the tomalley.
There may also be a red substance known as roe found in some female lobster.
Both are edible and considered by many to be one of their favourite parts,
however they can be scraped off if desired.
Claw – remove the small pincer. Break the claw into its natural sections.
Crack the shell by tapping with a nut cracker or knife. Remove all shell to
extract the meat. Break and open the legs at the joint and use a fork or
skewer to draw out the slender pieces of meat contained inside.

They aren't bad and are worth the £2.99 each. Been this price for about 3 weeks.

I have several in the freezer at the moment.

They certainly aren't worth the £13.99 they peaked at!!

What on earth are the chances of a lobster coming into contact with nuts - apart from those of a male lobster?
[mod]#12
lol ^

Thanks for the tip rhinopaul, will be nice to try it out :)

I got one of these a couple of weeks back, was "ok" but nothing special... not really worth the 2.99 either in my opinion. Would have been massivly ****** off if I spent 15 quid on one :)

I also got a lovely female one full of roe :S also if you are thinking of getting one, google for instructions, you can get much better ones else where :)
#14
Hot hot hot!

Yum yum, I love lobster thermador, I think I might have to cook one up this weekend now.
#15
I paid £7.99 when it was on an offer last time , not worth it in my view....hardly anything in it .

Plus i have tasted much better

I wouldnt even pay £2.99 for it as i would sonner pay more for something im going to enjoy and at least can feed more then 1 person

#19
Probably frozen April 07
#20
Bought several of these when they were £3.00 a couple of months ago.
Can be a bit watery but ok if you drain off the water as they defrost. Not an awful lot of meat in them but great value
#21
Saw this last week while doing shopping and ordered, was out of stock and substituted with exactly the same product in the same packaging for £14.99 - it went back, good luck to anyone getting this
#22
Bought one of these once, it was so skinny, when i opened the fridge to get it I noticed it had eaten my cheese and drunk all the milk lol

#26
i think you could make a decent prawn cocktail if you bought about 15.. or half a paella maybe

should be ashamed fishing such tiny lobsters instead of letting them grow. another case where tescos are ******s.
#27
I love the topic title, it sounds like you can get a whole canadian lobster for the price of £2.99 & tesco (what is tesco? like £100bn??!)

They are Atlantic Lobster more commonly known as the small Canadian red. This is the size they are that are not young or baby lobster.

The thing you should be ashamed of is supporting Tesco by making them force down the price as the workers at the Charlottetown processing plant only earn £3.50 an hour and one third of there wage goes on fuel costs just to heat there homes.

So they take it somewhere nice before boiling it alive and freezing its mortal remains? Well I'm glad they are so considerate! :)

I would assume that Tesco are actually selling these at a loss.

They were £14 and nobody buys them at that price. Every 3 months they seem to drop them to £8 then £3 or £4 to clear the stock when it gets to 10-12 months old and 1-2 months before its best before date.
#33
what would sir alan sugar say about that price :L :L :L

(the apprentice task for anyone that doesnt watch the apprentice)
#34
Had a similar one a while back from Lidl...if they are anything like those...even at £2.99 they are an absolute waste of money. BUT they might not be the same..BUT..Lobster for £2.99, what do you think this is The Apprentice. :whistling:

OMG !!!
I've just eaten three of these....thought they were a cheap,Quorn, imitaion lobst.................
#36
you are what you eat... would not buy food from tesco for this reason and many others
#37
There not that bad. And what the hell do people expect for the meat on a lobster. thats pretty normal, loads of shell not alot of meat.

I guess the opinions in this thread are tescos fault for making things affordable for the masses

As the OP stated they were found in the frozen food section I'd hazard a guess that they're dead :-D
