Saw these own brand discs yesterday in WHSmith (Telford-a pile by the main till), seems a reasonable price for the High St. I paid £1.40 last week for 10 Tesco ones. Haven't got any use for 100 otherwise I would have gone for them, may help someone though. The pack is not the same colour as the one in the photo off the website though (more a plain grey/white colour really) and they are in £17.99 price marked packs with a £7.99 sticker on them.

Can anyone vouch for the quality?

The £17.99 price tag seems a bit silly but £8 isn't bad at all... Provided they are decent discs of course!
#2
these silver topped store branded cd-r's are much the same so they do whats on the box. i tend to go for white printable disc's which my opinion give a better burn. voted hot but still can find cheaper like at http://www.bigpockets.co.uk.

I don't buy these very often but it looked like a 'reasonable' deal to me in the shop. If you buy these regular and you know where you can get them cheap (other than Fleabay & local computer fairs) then help us out and post a link or maybe post a deal yourself. Cheers

Snobby arent you! Many people still use CD's be they backing up old games to play on a modded games system or on a pc, I still know people who have portable CD Players people who burn AVI's to play on a DVD player

Thats like saying "LCD and not Plasma that is so early 2000's"

Nah, its a website where people post potentially useful information that may be of use to others. You should try it someday

Not snobby - just pig ignorant. Too ignorant to realise that you make audio CDs out of these. You know, the sort you play in CD players. The sort that musicians use to make rehearsal CDs and concert CDs out of, to pick a couple of examples. Far easier to give someone a CD than to faff about trying to get files on an MP3 player.

Well, when you stop playing the judgemental brit, you'll realise there ARE many people who have not purchased, or found use for a CD-R for years. The last time i remember buying CD-R was 2002, i think. I honestly found it surprising people buy. Remember, some people actually DO make certain comments with the most honest of intentions, and it does not entail anything snobbish, or an agenda on their part.

I shall do, when i find a good enough deal. In fact i have many a times wanted to post deals, but someone beats me to it. I also don't know how to post deals. Care to let me know how? Or did your day fullfill itself just by you b*tching at me?

Oh gosh, here we go. Like i said, i have not used a cd walkman in ages. even the words "cd walkman" sounds nostalgic to me. It isn't being ignorant, it is most certainly not being a snob, its perhaps being more up with the times than yourself. Remember, just because you are a miserable, drunk, brit does not mean everyone else needs to be seen through your cynical eyes. Just what is wrong with you people? always rude, always negative, alwayc whingy. Some of the most racist, rude and ignorant people i know are brits, and i can say that because i am half bvritish, so unlike you, i have the priviledge of seeing more than one type of people and/or persepectives. Anyhow p

lease DO NOT impose your misery on me. Sure there are people out there using cds, maybe even tapes.I just genuinely found it amusing someone posting a deal for cd-r for almost a tenner, when you can buy 100 DVDR for a tenner. (dvd-r holding more space).

By the way, musicians these days more often than not record their demos as MP3's and either upload them to myspace, to a record agency. Anyhow, go be miserable.:?

Old tech becomes more expensive as it becomes made less and less.

i.e. Sony decided to upgrade the 40GB hdd not because they feel kind but less and less people are making 40GB hdd now so is actually cheaper to get 80GB.

simple.

so thats why

Hmm perhaps ol' Johnny Foreigner should use some of your new found sarcasm and try trade it in for some capital letters to start a sentence.
We've lent you the language, At least have a half arsed rant at us using it correctly.
Oh and your spelling is atrocious.

2002 ? and you said how 90's lmao

CD-R's are as expensive as DVD-Rs i think its because there's no real difference as far as manufactures are concerned. I use CD's to burn various things music CD's usually for the car or just giving things to other people, I don't need to burn 4.7GB of stuff in one go seems a waste to use a DVD. I do have both DVD-R and CD-Rs i just use either where appropriate.

I'm still waiting for the link being cheaper elsewhere please! The only complaint on this offer is that its only in one store!

You are absolutely right - same amount of plastic; same stamping process. But you can't play DVD-Rs in CD players.

To enlighten the hard of thinking, I use them to make rehearsal CDs for a community choir whose ages range from 20s to 80s. These people do not waste their money on the latest gadgets because they don't need them. The ones who can download from the internet do so (so much for "CD walkmen"); for the others (and those that prefer higher quality) we have CDs. And dozens are made for concert recordings. Even though we charge for them, they're still lapped up.

I do wonder how isolated some people must be that they are unable to see beyond their own tiny world to the reality that is all around them.

Me too. To be fair I've looked online and found some unbranded ones around the same price, maybe slightly cheaper, but get them to the checkout and they want £5+ postage as they are bulky & carry a bit of weight. I think the people who are moaning are comparing this to prices at computer fairs & markets so its not the same.

Don't assume so, but I wouldn't go out you way to look unless you are passing. Maybe do what another poster did and ring your local, I would get them to scan a pack if they have any as they may be reduced but not marked down on the box. There was a decent pile in the store I went in and I would be surprised if it was only one store.

As for that unbelieveable idiot that posted last night I typed out a reply to fire back but in the end I decided it wasn't worth coming down to their level. Anyway I'm off to get drunk and be miserable and rude to people:p

I suppose being the typical british idiot, you would not bne aware that the french, germans, romans and greeks invented the language. Your garbage anglo saxon ancestor genepool just borrowed and strung it together. When you say "we" i don't suppose you mean the originators said language, considering the anglos were all mostly inbreeders. (hence we have you).

All the brits invented was slavery, pompousness, rudeness, drunkenness and bad behaviour. Then again you DID get your "arrses" handed to you by most of your "territories" and now you are such a miserable people in decline. Your doctors, engineers, workers are all people from other countries while your children get drunk, preagnant or stabbed. As a middle eastern friend of mine said to a very racist brit "your mothers are b*tches, your daughters are wh0res, your husbands are cheats, your sons are drunkards and your wives are a pain, no wonder you are all so angry most of the time". (a bit harsh of him, but also true 95%).

As for my spelling live with it, or you can always kill yourself. I recommend the latter.

Self imporvement begins from self criticism. I believe criticism ought to start from one's own backyard. I hope i can inspire you to it someday. Remember, less anger, more happiness.

With all that judgement about The British and obvious dislike of us I suggest you log off of hotUKdeals and learn some manners, respect for others and realise that the way you put your seemingly ignorant views accross is neither constructive nor useful.

The Chesterfield store have removed the reduced price sticker ( you can see the remains) and are selling at the full price.:x
