It's still a rip off if you already own series 1 and want every episode - the only way to get last year's Christmas Special on DVD is to buy this boxset of series 1, series 2 and the special. Moneygrabbing in the extreme not to put the special on the series 2 DVD, it was part of that series anyway as it aired on Boxing Day and the series 2 episodes aired on the following weeks.

Keep your WH Smith receipt.

If you spot them in Tesco for cheaper, buy two packs and return them to WH smith for a refund. (make sure the bar codes are identical to the WH smith packs)

I paid £1.25 for a pack of two @ Tesco recently.

So for the £7 I just paid for two packs of two I could have had five packs of two? Ouch!

Still, the Tesco stores near me don't stock the writing pens, and I think the Tesco Sharpie deals have all ended. Small consolation though :-|

You could just return them for a refund.

I tore open both packets the moment I got home :-/

Besides, if the Tesco offer has expired as I think it has then regardless of whether 50p off is a good offer this would appear to be the cheapest price I can get them for at the moment. They are great pens, worth what I paid.

yeah give up an afternoon traipsing round shops and examining bar codes- for 3 quid
Thanks man, that is an awesome idea! :-)

Just bought this in Tesco priced at £2.99 (although it had a £4.49 sticker on the front) the shelf edge lable was £2.99.

Its a shame you don't check your details before leaving comments.

FYI supermarkets are charging £4-49 for this book.

Seems I did. Previously neutral. Now voted cold.
I bought this from my local Tesco Extra (Longton, Stoke) last night. It had a sticker on as part of a deal for books at £4.49 each or two for £8.00. On the shelf label the book was marked at £2.99. I asked someone to check the price and it was £2.99. Bargain!
Whatever the price its a good read.

Don't appreciate snide retorts. If you submit deal as for an offline store, you do not get to submit a deal url so you get a dead link.

Wow, thanks for that, hillsbills. Now it makes perfect sense for the link to go to a dead page, instead of to the company's home like everyone else does... :|
Irrespective of whether you appreciate it, it's justified.

You, yourself, recently posted a deal for an item instore at whsmiths, and the link works just fine. Are you arguing that this thread is right and your own is wrong?

TBH don't bother replying. Save yourself from looking dafter, and lets stop spoiling this thread...

Not to worry, Helen - it's perfectly natural to take a few goes to get the hang of something new.

Ordinarily with a thread relating to a deal found instore at whsmith the poster would direct the deal link to either the product on whsmith's site (if there at all) or to whsmith's homepage.

My first post, pointing out the link was dead, wasn't a criticism - I was just letting you and others know. It's easier for other folk to judge/vote/buy the product if they can see it.

On the other hand my second post, directed at hillsbills, was the snide retort it appears to be.
Again, it wasn't a criticism at you, but at her for thinking perhaps this was the first time I've seen an instore deal despite being a site member for four years. ;)

That's great thanks for the advice hun, i'm sure I will be able to do it with my eyes closed after a bit more practise lol!!

My last English course tested me on the interpretation of such sentences, and I concur with your interpretation there. Hence I have no idea what a CD costs its been so long. 50p at a car boot? 10p for really old ones?

Paid £10 for one from Tesco a few weeks back. Little boy loves it but not sure i'd have paid more than £15 for it. There was plenty on the bay of E at around £15 a little back - prob all tesco one's bought at a tenner.

Afaik it was sold in Tesco as clearance but i don't remember it being listed as discontinued on the Playmobil website. More lukewarm from me at this price, but if your little one's as much as a playmobil nut as mine go buy it!

Used to work for WH Smith's and I bet you fifty quid they've had either a store audit or someone's found a handfull in the stock room and priced them up to clear ... "penny stock" as we used to call it priced at manager's discretion.

They play at entertainment and games now; more profit in books, stationery and mags and markup on entertainment is none existant so probably a clear out.

Hot though ... just sayin ;)

Pretty much what you said. I reduced the entertainment down from the previous 10 walls to 5 the other day in my branch, which is a larger store. The majority of smaller stores now have no dvds at all. WH Smith are planning to pull out of dvd sales in the near(-ish) future, if I remember this has been planned since Woolworths went bust as Smiths was supplied by EUK.

You think that's crazy? The Trafford Centre WHSmith has been a real treasure trove for boxsets over the past few months.

I've managed season 1-8 of scrubs for 4 quid each, a volume of Young Indiana Jones for 4 quid, Heroes season 2 for 1 quid, Mighty Boosh 1-3 for 5 quid and a few complete seasons of Stargate SG1 for 7-8 quid.

On the other hand as a deal seems good but I've noticed it has been on Channel 5 for the past 2 weekends in a row. Will no doubt get endless repeats over Easter along with the other 2 abominations.

One of the best gamecube games.
You found a WHSmiths that still has games? The one here cleared them out over a year ago.
Good find. I found Mario Galaxy 1 for £11 and Mario Party for £9 (both Wii) in WHSmith's about a year ago - they do seem to have random sale items that aren't advertised.

This is a good game - The pain of seeing my pikmin being eaten by an angry giant onion just made it too difficult to continue though ;o) Guess I'm just a bit sh*t at it.
Shame they didn't keep up the NPC line, would have loved to have seen Chibi Robo and Mario Sunshine
