Great price, but absolutely useless in the north - not been a single day this year when I've even needed my oscillating fan and it's never got warm enough to even use the 4.5 tog summer quilt :w00t:

Not necessarily so. R410A is just a later refrigerant. Generally speaking, the later models are better and more efficient. For the record, I haven't seen wickes or b&q selling any particularly good ones. They all seem inefficient in one respect or another. I would say only ideal for light use. For heavier use, definitely go for professional install on one of the Japanese brands.

I think the whole point here is that for the UK, a full price and/or quality brand would be pointless considering the amount of use it would get.

We are talking £100 here for someting you could use 5-10 times (optimistic mode on) per year to make life a litte more bearable!

If we were talking about the Mediteranian, then of course a quality/efficient brand would be important.. But here, for £100 are any of these debates worthwhile?

For me, I am happy.. I just need to work out which of the 2 systems I have bought, I should keep.?

Depends on what people want to use it for really. Good heat pumps are significantly cheaper to run than conventional heating for example. For a basic minimal use, these are fine.

It is worth phoning other local stores for the external bracket. Chester for example, has none of the units on display (or advertised anywhere in-store), but several stacked up in the warehouse.

They had 4 brackets left earlier today.

Any idea how much they were? I might have to phone around my local area to see what I can find, but depending on price, I might just be better off building a simple frame and pouring in a few inchs of concrete..

Frames are 14.99 available in Bournemouth store.

I purchased last 2 a/c units today, but may return one set. if anyone after one let me know.

Cheers..Were the brackets stored with the AC units? The only other thing my local store had was the 'Permenant Vent Kits".. Out of interest were the Units you bought the 156297/156298 or the 156435/156416 varient?

hmm i guess for £100 not bad

but is energy rating D - i'm sure it is fairly loud.

build quality wont be the best. compressor wont be any good etc.

but u pay for what u get i guess

Energy consumption doesn't always tie up to acoustic noise.

I'd go further and say the two are almost entirely unrelated!

I presume you picked up an EcoAir one?
"MillenniumAir" which may of course be the same thing. DC inverter.

It is, they're all the same, made in the same factory in oem form.

What was the damage?

Can't remember now - it was two years ago. The seller was very helpful and said that he had found DC inverters to be more reliable than AC ones - but he would say that, wouldn't he...

Anyone got a part number for the frame (exterior) needed? Cant find it on Wickes web site.

Anyone got any photos of their completed install? I am still undecided as to whether I want to keep mine.. The only place I can put it is right above my TV and this would make it the first thing you see when entering the room.. I am worried that it might be a bit of an eye sore!

they were 156297/298 type.
brackets are with a/c units and specially for the purpose. b&q ones are 7.99 but different.
I have one spare set in bournemouth if anyone would like one, b4 it goes back.

Do you have a part number for the brackets at all? When I bought my unit, they were by the front door, no brackets in site?

The part number is in the instruction manual (SKU 156308), but I am having trouble finding one.

After measuring up, I am pretty sure that I can't floor mount mine, so need to go for a wall mount option.

However, I have a welder and am compitent enough to make my own.. So I am tempted to have a bash myself.. How hard can it be.. 2 uprights.. 2 arms and a bit of bracing.. Then i can mount it on some rubber to cut vibration... Its 32kgs, so it hardly needs to be anything special!
