OK, terrible picture but see below for one side. we have more holds on the other side of this wall so the kids can go along and through the doorway and around.

We also use a bouldering mat for padding on the floor.
The first time any child visits they get a quick chat and the rules are set out for them - no jumping onto people, never go underneath anyone, no pulling/pushing people on the wall.

this is 18mm exterior ply with 13mm holes drilled at regular intervals.
10mm T nuts fitted in the back of the holes.
Battens hammer fixed to the wall and the ply screwed to the battens.
Holds are either screwed to the doorframe or use m10 bolts into the t-nuts. Bolts are fastened with an allen key/hex bit and my daughter can reposition them as she likes. When she's repositioned them I go round and just make sure that they're tight.

Visiting kids love it.

ply was £35/sheet 8'x4'. You need to batten the wall because you need some space for the bolts. Holds as per the holdz site and a batch of metolius stuff picked up in a sale. Ply painted with emulsion.

You could do it outdoors if you were a bit careful about sealing the edges of the ply and made sure that you supported it properly. I'd use 100mm square posts for the framework.

What's wrong with a good old fashioned tree? We never had these in my days! :D

They may be too old to care by the time the tree grows big enough?
