nice price. but sadly i owned the u70, and the satellite fix was dreadful! would often take well over 2 minutes to find the signal! That said, once it wass locked on, the interface is better than tom tom, and the text to speech is smooth!

Aww man I'd like this, but my nearby stores don't sell Sonys. Which store did you get it from scrumpypaul?

fair enough, but our lass has a tomtom one (v3) which sometimes takes a few mins to lock on - doesn't really matter when you're setting off from home though, does it?

Anyone download the speed camera data for this thing yet?
What a bl**dy bind. My windows Vista ain't picking up the unit over USB so after reading through the manual I've had to download software from the windows vista website etc to get it to read the unit.
All longwinded and a pain to be honest given there is two different versions of the software to pick from etc. Eventually got laptop to read the unit and then the stupid thing runs out of charge. No mains charger supplied so you've gotta use the ciggy lighter thingy, so it's back to the car etc etc etc.

I just gave up and left it for a rainy day when I could be bothered.

Good price, but be aware Sony no longer make sat navs and won't be supporting them from 2010.
Also from reviews the maps may be out of date already and it's £42 to update them.

Regarding getting no mains charger, apparently the psp charger works on them if you have one.

Oooooh....currently charging on my PSP charger. Saved me a few quid on e-bay there.
I'm bald, but franticaly trying to find some hair to pull out here over registering this beast for the speed camera activation.

I've managed to dowload the .exe file and update the vista sofware and even went through the tireless process of registering the product on the unbelievebly slow sony web site AND STILL NO ACTIVATION CODE!

Where on earth do I get the bl**dy thing from, it's certainly not straight forward!!!

Anyone help?

Had to ring sony 0800 1695 263 to get the speed cameras on this thing. Far too long winded and very misleading instructions in my opinion. Working now tho after some very good customer service from thier support line. At least sony got that right!

this is good site for info on this product. http://technical-itch.co.uk/2007/11/09/sony-nav-u-nv-u53-sat-nav-review/
