Anyone used this site before?

Also is this an official cable? I presume not, at this price, but can anyone confirm?

You do not get this cable with the wii.
It does improve the picture quality slightly

This is not an official cable.
I have used Dealextreme a few times without any problems
you pay by paypal.
The only downside is the slow delivery, I waited about 2 weeks for my cable.......

Yeah i tried to use that direct link in the post but it diverted to main page. Wierd

Really appreciate your helps, thanks.

I have a new Samsung 42" HD ready plasma, would this be a worthwhile cable for me to get, or is there like a 1080 one? I really don't know about all these techonological stuff - I just know that I want a Wii and if there is a cable that will make it look better then I want that too LOL!

Thanks again

The Wii is not HD quality the same as a 360 but this
cablw does make the picture better. I do not know of another
cable, the official nintendo cable does the same job as this
one and is £14.99+

Cant get 1080 lead as the Wii doesnt support it, this just sharpens up your picture and looks better on new lcd HD tellys. A component lead is a component lead you can get better quailty ones but its hard to tell the difference unless your well into it, so for £2.95 this is awesome addition to and wii owner!!

Thank you everyone, rep coming your way

I use DX very regularly and bought this very same cable from them. The difference to picture quality on a HDTV is amazing: bright colours, high contrast levels, well defined lines etc. Bear in mind though that the Wii outputs a 480p signat so will not be up to the standard of a 360 or PS3. I can highly recommend both DX and the cable.
#13
I can honestly say I can't see much of a difference when I switched from the standard lead to this one.
#14
go for an official cable, while these are better than the scart, the official ones are better still

Yep, not a very noticable difference, but for me it was worth £3...i think.

From a thread on the FS forum:

Guys I did get the component cable from DX for the £3 mentioned and I must say it is awful.. The quality is really bad and it's receiving interference due to the poor shielding.

I have placed another order at DX and have lashed out on one that is £8. Hope it fixes the problem.

I got this from them a while a go and there is a very noticeable difference in picture quality on my 40" lcd from standard cable supplied, also with the addition of two connectors and an audio lead you can isolate the red and white audio plugs and run the sound seperately through your home cinema for improved volume and quality dolby pro logic II sound, although not the 5.1 quality available from the ps3 and xbox it is a massive improvement on the sound coming from your tv.

From a thread on the FS forum:

Its £3 quid though, for a better picture quailty, its saves £12 from the official one, one bad review out of lots doesnt gaurantee to be 100% accurate.
#19
I have this same lead - also from DX - it is a bargain price and does the job just fine.

The picture is noticeably crisper and clearer when using this cable, and there is very little blurring/haze.
#20
i've got this exact cable and I'd suggest to still use DX and simply get a better one that has individual shielding. I get buzzing on the menu screen which to me suggests it's receiving interference. I've just ordered one from DX that's a whole £8 so hopefully this will fix the problems I'm experiencing.

I also don't see a huge difference between using this cable and the normal cable even putting the Wii settings to 480p obviously.
#21
I have this cable and would recommend over the scart, on a 40" Sony Bravia you can tell the difference but I mainly got it because this connection was spare on the TV, as only have 3 HDMI, 2 Scart and all used up so had to have the old scart splitter for the wii, but not anymore so they all have their own connection now. Had to change the picture setting on the Wii to make it better.
Fantasic for £3 quid in my case.
#22
I have a 42" plasma & the difference between a gameware compnent cable & the RGB scart isn't visible. To the OP, great price & deal if you don't have the RGB scart but if you have, I wouldn't bother going component unless you need to free up a socket on your tv. Cracking price if you want / need it though:thumbsup:

Bought one from DX and it seems faulty, there are 'waves' going on in the background, so keep a close look out. Not worth the hassle in sending it back.
The difference wasnt that much between the composite cable supplied with the Wii, not like the old days, it will vary from TV to TV though.

Heres a good comparison between Wii screens using a component vs composite connection:

http://au.gamespot.com/features/6162297/p-2.html?sid=6162297&page=2

But a better comparison would be between RGB scart (aka 480i, 576i) and component (aka 480p, VGA).. probably hard to capture the difference in a screenshot though.

A good example of the HD hype, is to switch between REZ HD and REZ original on XBox live arcade.
It's less impressive than bumping up your graphics card a notch on the PC in 1995. And to think it took console manufactures 5 years to support VGA properly after Sega did in 1999.

Some of these reviews are pointless, the comparisons will only show how well a certain TV upscales and deinterlaces. None of them support the Wii resolution natively, and the Wii doesnt have an inbuilt scaler like the Xbox360 ( which looks good on any TV)

I found that Gamecube 576i games looked better on my TV than 480P ones (using official component cable) It would be interesting to see the Wii on a CRT monitor so no upscaling is done.
#29
If you have an TV that can accept 480p input on Component, then get this cable.

I have one, ordered from Deal Extreme, and it's fine. Delivery is usually about 2 weeks though.
#30
Great price, i got mine off eBay for £4 and i thought THAT was cheap..

I run my XBOX (flashed to NTSC and running XBMC) and Wii through a 1024x768 projector that accepts component over VGA - the quality on XBMC is beautiful and my Wii is lagging so I've ordered one of these cables to correct some of the blur - I'm hoping that I'll notice the difference on a 100" image!

Also got some of those magnets and a CF>IDE convertor for the bedroom xbox to make it silent :) Love DX

I have a 28" HD TV at my house, my girlfriend has a 32" CRT and the wii looks better on the CRT TV using the standard cables. It seems like my sony bravia just isn't very well equipped to output an SD source. I shall purchase one of these cables and hope for an improvement.

As far as I can tell, it will make the image clearer, but that may not always make it look better due to the wii's inability to Anti-Aliase (sp?) a source, so although there will be less blur, I will see all the nasty 'jaggies'.
#33
If you have a HDTV, you'll notice how ugly the Wii looks on the standard AV cables. Whilst these might not be the best component cables out there, component cables are definately the way to go if you have a Wii and a HDTV - You will definately notice the difference on a game like Mario Galaxy which pushes the console a little harder graphically than say Wii Sports.
#34
Cheers :)

Does it still play GameCube games when outputting 480p? I'd like the cable but if it means swapping cables when using backwards compat. mode then I think I'll stick to the AV cable....it's not like I play on the Wii for it's visuals anyway.

Yes, in fact I've bought this cable from them, it's very good, which is more than can be said for the missing order and utterly miserable customer service I received (I contacted them, we spoke, they ignored me). If you're going to buy items then I would suggest buying them individually for the free shipping, that way you minimise anything being nicked in the post.

Yes it does.

Although one person has posted something bad about this cable the overwhelming response is that it does improve quality... worth a few $ IMHO...

Interesting advice.. I'd rather send everything in one parcel - that way I either get it all or nothing! It would be horrible trying to contact CS if half went missing...
#39
I actually think it makes the quality look a bit worse, but the colours look way better with the component lead. Have a look at the 1st screenshot here: http://au.gamespot.com/features/6162297/p-2.html?sid=6162297&page=2

The grass at the back goes from smooth (although kinda flat) to grass with jagged edges.

This difference is really noticeable in games like wii bowling - where the big straight lines down the alley look jagged.

Having said that - the colours look a lot more vibrant - especially rainbow road on mario kart

Unless of course the dear old Royal Mail (as has happened to me 5 times now) open the parcel remove the items they fancy, reseal the parcel and send it on it's merry way, you sign for it open it and find half the contents missing. I now always check to make sure the parcel hasn't been opened, the only problem is that my neighbours don't and a lot of the time they sign for my parcels.
