The links above go to the same site, for some reason, the compatibility list is a slightly different url.

Much as I don't wish to get into "one of those" discussions on this thread. The new controller does look very good and I hope they finally come out with a decent golf game.

Whilst I have a PS3 (never use it) I agree with this statement from Reghardware RE: PS3 Motion Controller...

As impressive as the Sony and Microsoft motion-control tech appears to be, El Reg is going to tell you why both are doomed to fail.

The primary rule in the game console biz is to get third-party developers to support the platform. This can't happen with either motion control regimes because;

1) They weren't shipped with the console at launch. No sane developer is going to risk ruining a game's potential appeal to the public at large by making it only playable by those who've purchased a bonus (and potentially expensive) gadget.

There will be doubtlessly be niche games supporting the tech, but no major title will limit itself to a motion-control only scheme on the PS3 and 360. Devs will instead gear a game for the regular controller that everyone is guaranteed to have and perhaps opt to tack on motion-control as afterthought.

2) There are now three consoles with completely disparate motion control schemes. If you can't make a game easily ported to all three, you'll probably limit yourself to just one. And chances are you'll pick the console with the enormous user base guaranteed to have the right equipment: the Nintendo Wii.

this jog thing is useless. I pre-ordered it ages ago and completely forgot about it. Tried it with Alone in the Dark and RE4 but, despite initially working (it's supposed to ensure that unless you are moving, the character doesn't), within 5 minutes I didn't need to run any more to make the characters go.

EA Active on the other hand, is amazing...and bloody painful!

Entirely valid comments. Though surely the Wii faces a similar fiasco introducing the Balance Board and the forthcoming MotionPlus controller? Both raise issues for developers wanting to exploit hardware potential in their games.

Natal's a real curiousity, I sort of want it and don't in equal doses :p

I agree - I was aching big time the following morning after doing a 30 min moderate workout with it.

It's not gonna be ready for at least 2 years, by which time we'll all be thinking about saving up for our next-gen consoles, not buying expensive peripherals. Remember the Sega 32x?

I doubt that very much,Nintendo will be far more concerned with the 360 controller Project Natal which is something totally new, Sony's(Wii copy) effort is inferior in every way as it uses only two point tracking mechanism while the 360 Project Natal can track the movement of your whole body including your legs, hands face and even fingers in 3D.
But neither of the other two systems controllers are released yet so it's a matter of wait and see but until then the Wii has the best control system.

The Sony one exists where as the 360 oner is still in concept development and they haven't actually got it working properly .....unlike the PS3 one .... :roll:

But only time will tell ! :)
