  That's cheap for a proper red visible laser as shown in the picture, normally they are at an invisible to the eye frequency. Surprised no-one has blinded themselves yet.

  It's a plastic attachment for a Wii remote, it doesn't actually do anything more than hold things in place. Wii remotes work fine on LCD Tele's.

  We got two of these. They take 2 x AAA batteries and work fine. They do have a proper laser in them and have a warning about pointing them at peoples eyes.
