Lowest price it's been for a while

IMO better deal than the game collection deal even though it's the basic as you get Wii Play U and Mario Kart 8.

You can claim one free game when you register MK8 through nintendo.co.uk

Is there a significant difference between basic and pro version?

I believe the only difference is hard drive size and colour (pro is 32gb instead of what I assume is 16gb).

Basic is 8gb not 16. Premium is 32gb. A usb stick can be used to expand or a powered usb drive.

I had an old 500gb USB desktop drive so got a white basic wii u ages ago on a similar deal. We are happy with the white one as less smudging and only difference was disk space which we have plenty of. We have been playing everyday since real fun family console reminds me of when we all used to sit around tv playing when I was younger! Game collection always doing 5 quid games plus the awesome mario kart 8 and 3d world is a must.

Think you get 10% back on any e shop purchases with the premium version too. Good deal here though. Heat added.

Better to buy the package without mariokart for £199.99, if you want MK you can pick it up for £35 @ Zavvi (even if you buy the game from Amazon it's a £1 Cheaper than the bundle).

For that £1 extra you get Wii U Party + an extra Wii Remote... Not bad for a quid?

The £199.99 package includes Wii Party U, Just Dance 2014, Nintendoland + 2 remotes, the only difference between the 2 packages is MK8.

"Deluxe Wii U model
Comes in black only and includes everything the Basic has, plus adds a console stand, a GamePad stand and charging station, and a copy of the Nintendo Land game. This model features 32 GB internal flash storage."

Also from experience the white rubber on thumbsticks gets dirty pretty quick...

I would pick the black Deluxe one personally.

As suggested, the package without MK8 was £199.99 at Amazon as I bought it myself.

Can someone answer me a question about a Wii U. I thought this was a handheld Wii a bit like a large DS. If this is the case why do you need Wii remotes?

Looking at your past question about FIFA I will assume that you are a technophobe, particularly when it comes to games consoles.

The Wii U is the newest Nintendo home console that is designed to play all new games that their old console, the Nintendo Wii, cannot. The Wii U can use the Wii remotes in some games as a control option.

Thank you for your answer though whether it needed the technophobe insult is a matter of opinion.

Is there a significant difference between basic and pro version?
The premium version has a 32GB hard drive as opposed to 8GB, but both are pretty small so you'd probably want to use some kind of external storage anyway. The big difference is the premium one comes with access to a super secret Nintendo club where you get a fiver whenever you register a new game. If you buy mostly preowned it won't make much difference, but £5 off new games forever isn't a bad offer.
#18
The basic Wii U also doesn't include a sensor bar so the two Wiimotes are useless until you add a third party sensor bar on.

That said they can be picked up for a few quid from Amazon or Game, it's just something to consider if you want to play stuff out of the box

"Product Description
This Mario Kart, Just Dance 2014 and Wii Party bundle includes a selection of great games. You get the white Wii U console, which comes with 8GB of storage, white Wii U GamePad and Wii Remote Plus controller, Sensor Bar, and disc versions of Just Dance 2014, Nintendo Land and the hugely popular Mario Kart 8.

I think you mean the Nintendo Premuim Network which grants you 8% cashback on any Eshop purchase, even titles you get for free will earn you a cashback reward such as the free Mario Kart 8 download.

There is a free Professor Layton game on Wii U? How?

A quick google for "what is a wii u"(or similar) would have got you your answer instantly and without the technophobe insult(which you may/may not dense as I've not seem the post that kais refered to).

This bundle from amazon does come with the sensor bar

Good deal, I've bitten.

Just bear in mind that unless you're living in the year 2000 or have a solid cabinet under your TV, this will look hideous.

I still have no idea why they make white consoles. Even the hipsters wont buy it as they're too busy lining the pockets of Cook & Dre™.

Amazed the fanbois haven't arrived yet to send the heat over 1000 because the machine is cheaper by a whole £10. Then tell everyone how great Wii U is.

Irrespective of that though, this is THE Wii U pack to get, lack of internal space can be fixed with a USB stick, but the two Wii controllers in the box, which would cost circa £80 alone, are the deal sealer, one controller won't suffice for the excellent MK.

Is the £199 deal still available? I can't find any links for it on HUKD.
