Time to open another Zavvi account!

Use WELCOME for 10%, new accounts only.

Not a bad deal for the basic package. I was a bit dubious about getting a Wii U but its a great family console, great for me and the little lad. Some really great games too.

1% Quidco on consoles should make this come in at £133.64 which is a bargain.

Enjoy

Nearing £100 for a gateway to some of the best games I've ever played. Crazy.

Just realised the code 6JAN60 also gets you 10%. Saves faffing about setting up duplicate accounts.

do you get the sensor bar? does the old sensor bar from the Wii work if not?

If your ordering this - just be aware that the WELCOME code is not meant to work on hardware so there is a high chance that Zavvi will cancel the order. ta

Be very careful with Zavvi, the is only emails and tweets as customer support, and they only reply every 48 hours.

I bought a wii u last wk and it's great just get mario kart 8

Sensor bars cost peanuts on eBay. As above, these codes are not normally allowed to be used on consoles so you're taking a gamble here... don't be too disheartened is Zavvi cancel.

And Bayonetta 2!

Good deal but cant help thinking the bundles are better value.

Am i right in thinking the basic one just lacks storage compared to the premium? Im thinking with the price difference it would be better to spend that on a decent hard drive or usb flash drive. Would that work?

Yes old sensor bar does work on Wii U.

You don't need the sensor bar unless your going to use Wii remotes.

Its exactly the same as the pro version except for having 8GB internal storage and being white.

It works with external HDD, Nintendo recommend not using USB memory sticks.

See here:

Might look a bit ugly on the old TV stand though, with a trailing HDD behind it.

Same diff, solid state storage :)
I actually did think it had a swappable card, never checked.

Maybe it's not even SSD?

Best family console out there in my opinion, we've had some great laughs on it, my daughter even complains to her mum that she can't get her hands on the gamepad! Oooops.

To say it has an SD card, makes it sound like it is removable it isn't. The memory is built in. Probably flash storage.

its a shame many of the big software house have abandoned it.

Neither of the two Wii U models have an actual Hard Drive, it's a storage device (SSD).

Tempting... or do I go for the Premium with Mario Kart 8 for £189... decisions decisions

I bought the basic party package at £164 and thought that was a good deal, it did come with a sensor bar!! Anyone know if you can use 2 gamepads for the same game?? I know you can't play 2 players on 2 gamepads but thinking I could pick up another gamepad saving arguments..

Surely the basic at £135 plus MK8 for around £32 is a better deal? Unless the exta memory and dock and BLACK is something you feel worth paying extra for?

Better with this deal as the other one you need to make a new account. God knows I have too many Tesco Direct account because of the offers :)

This is good value for those that haven't seen a combo or package deal that has suited them.

If you do have intentions of buying Super Smash Brothers in the future, be aware that the console and game can be got for £169.99 at GAME and you'll get just over £3 in reward points.

I am aware the console (£135) and SSB (at Amazon £32.86) is cheaper than £170, but for those accumulating rewards points from Game, despite the saving buying separate, more is earned in reward points.

Wii U games are blinkin' good fun. I bought the premium pack for £225 two years ago. No regrets. Fantastic price! Hot!

I know but I've already got a PS4 and X1 gathering dust under the telly, at least at less than £100 I can justify another console getting added to the collection... ha ha :D

I back this post up 100%. Tread carefully. It looks like a very good price but you should balance that with this vendor's customer service and in my opinion, it is worth paying slightly more from an alternative shop. Zavvi are incredibly difficult to communicate with.
