Same shoe other foot mate.

I am trying to find a decent price for one of these and in every thread all I see is people whinging and offering opinion as fact. Its just like why even bother lol.

and couldnt agree more simon

if someone doesnt like the wii u! fine, great, everyones entitled to an opinion. But blasting said opinion on every single wii u deal thread is just boring.

it was just as bad with the 3ds, the ps3 and even the xbox in the past! give it a rest for goodness sake!

Isn't this like £40 less than the launch price. Usually Nintendo launches result in limited stock for months!
#2
Price is dropping on this really quick. It was £225 last week for the console! Heat added but ill be staying away until they've fixed the problems and price will drop sub £200 soon
#3
the other deal was a bit better I think as I doubt the games worth £35 (could be wrong though!)

I wont be touching this purely because its Zavvi, but hot for the price in comparison to elsewhere.

Because people have now finally begun to realise that nintendo is a one trick pony.

Release new underpowered console with some form of gimmick > Only decent games are first party which are just remakes of 20 year old franchises > Console gathers more dust than your grandmother's muff.

Plus the fact that the launch titles are abysmal, and 3rd party games are just ports of Xbox/Ps3 games. Those ports will also stop once the vastly superior Microsoft and Sony consoles are released around Q4 next year, as developers wont want to use resources changing everything so that the Wii U can actually run a PS4/720 port.

They have 300. So I expect the price drops to continue. I have ZERO interest in that game, but if it was Zombi U i'd probably jump on it.

This console will be £200 soon.

The consoles dropping in price because I bought it at 300 so it figures. The games are going up in bloody price because I have the console so it figures too. Soon each game will come with a console lol. Good for those who waited.

Good deal and great console.well pleased with my WII U but everybody is entitled to there opinion.

It's only Zavvi dropping the prices, no one else is. Supposedly, the trade price for a Wii u premium is around £250, so i'm a bit confused as to what Zavvi are are actually doing here.

That will be the white model to get the sub £200 drop first. Can't see the black model getting to that price for a looong time yet.

Problems are all fixed. It was just the initial update that was a pita!

Heat added for a great console at a great price. I paid £309 for mine too. Goes great with my PS3 and Xbox :-)

Really wanted a Wii U at launch, but I resisted. Given the dirth of quality games at the moment, I am glad I held off. This year will hopefully see a price drop and some stand-out games, along with firmware updates to sort out connectivity and freezing issues.

Bought one of these near release and regretted it after the initial wow stage. The controller is a gimmick, ZombiU was decent but everything else is either a year old port or looks uninteresting. Thought it might be worth waiting for Zelda 56 or Mario Kart 33 but it really wasn't worth keeping it for games which will be glorified HD remakes. Anyway ended up selling it to a friend for a small loss who himself has sold it on :p Still it's a good price so hot :)

I think Nintendo have (wrongly) assumed that the Wii U will sell like hotcakes, in the same way that the Wii did. Unfortunately they haven't done a very good job of telling Joe Public 1) What a Wii U is (you attach it to the Wii, right?), and 2) Why they should buy one.

The Wii was also in the right place at the right time, and the 'waggle to play' hook grabbed people that wouldn't normally play video games. Wii Sports bowling was an absolute stroke of genius. Those same folks are now happily playing Angry Birds on their tablets and phones though, so why would they need a £300 Wii U console with a tablet screen?

I would love the Wii U to succeed, but Nintendo is going to be preaching to a much smaller audience this time around. They'd better get it right.

It really is a great price, sell Epic Mickey for £30 and you've got a Wii U for £220.

(Open it first for ClubNintendo points.) ;)

It will still sell well, just not as good as the Wii did.

well wii u gets thumbs up from me we have zombies black ops2 and batman controller more than a gimmick and i can watch the tv while the lad plays game on controller theres more to a game than graphics and wait until the new ps4 and xbox they will i'm sure have a pad controller

They really need to market this to couples. Tonight I'm playing Tranzit online COD zombies on the gamepad while the missus watches midsummer murders. Everybody's happy! The controls and screen quality on the gamepad are superb also. It's more enjoyable to play then the 360.

I like the WiiU (I bought 1 on launch day)
But the sheer lack of games and the fact the controller only let me play in my living room or kitchen was a real downer.

ZombiU is great but other than that there's nothing any ps3/360 owners will really care about.

I sold my WiiU for a £15 loss on what I paid and glad I did seeing these price reductions and lack of interest.

Hot deal for anyone after the console though

That's the thing....Nintendo have messed up marketing this massively.

Most people I know don't even know what a WiiU is!!
And by the time Nintendo pull their fingers out Microsoft will have revealed the new Xbox and lost even more potential buyers

I love my Wii U, but Epic Mickey is a stinker! Poor camera angles and lots of wandering about wondering what you are supposed to be doing, at least I only rented it.

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is my fave, with Nintendo Land just behind.

Negative comments may not all derive from 'Wii U Haters'.

Ever thought that these comments come from people who love the innovation and creativity Nintendo are capable of but just it's worn so so thin?

I don't hate the console, in fact I wanted it to be great, I just wish they delivered something more, certainly more than the following :-

a single touch pad in a world of multi touch tablets,
an 8GB console but after the OS has taken it's slice you are left with 2,
the painful porting of Wii data,
the painful updates,
being unable to turn the touch pad off when you've no intention of using it,
etc etc

It's a long list of things that should be better, in a few years time you can forgive a system of a crap list but if it's this big at launch what's next? Where is the list of wow features??

I'm sure I've filled this post with inaccuracies and somebody will have to correct me but hey, the general gist I sense is there's a bad smell about this machine, only time will tell huh?

memory on the wii is not really an issue you can have a 32 gb sd memory card and once the wii tv launches then an external hard drive up to 2 TB can be used for games and tv recording and the internet browser is really fast great for browsing

My two cents.

I own one, I paid full price and I regret it - but only a little; it's not worth £300 but it is very fun. It is a great system (I also have a PS3/360) and I would suggest all those that are criticising it unjustly, try playing one first, it is certainly better than the Saturn was. The games are good and considering it has been out for a month I really don't understand the short-termism. The marketing has been awful, granted, but for a launch line-up, the games are better than your average launch.

Yes it will get cheaper, yes it's not an Xbox and yes it might just have first-party Mario, Zelda but not for a while...blah blah blah. If you want one, like I did, buy one - this is a decent price at the moment.

I got a 360 at launch. There weren't any decent games for at least 18 months or so. Perfect Dark Zero, anyone? Doesn't mean that it will go in the bin because it had a bad first 6 months.

There is no denying the fact that Nintendo make quality hardware and quality games, but this time there is a premium attached, similar to the Gamecube. If you don't want to pay that premium, don't, but don't go on about why others shouldn't just because you don't like it.

I got one, paid £250 for it. It annoys me slightly that the price is dropping, but i love it. We have xbox 360 also, but i use this more that the xbox. I love the casual gaming that it has, and nintendoland is a great party game to play with friends.

It doesn't need to be a multi-touch screen, that's the point, it's not competing with tablets, although if I had to choose between playing on the gamepad or some game on the ipad, I'd choose gamepad everytime.

Why buy the 8gb version, then moan about capacity.

Transferring data is not that difficult.

360/ps3 have updates all the time, and yes i have both.

Why do you want to turn your gamepad off, Wtf?!

I give up now.

I bought one of the premium packs from Zavvi for £225. Really pleased with the console - lots of fun. I also own a 360, a PS3 and a Wii. Love 'em all and can't understand the ridiculous arguments going on about which console farts louder than the others. If you're a real gamer, you'll see the strengths in all of them.
#37
great console. I've only played NintendoLand so far, its really good. Usually I play ps3/xbox, It's a breath of fresh air. It's like what the Wii would have been if the Wii was HD and had a good controller and wasn't boring anymore.

i love my wii u but after completing zombiu and mario there isnt a lot on it. Ive been playing wii games on it :P

Pretty sure my launch Gamecube was about £130 on launch, also I would argue that Nintendo's recent hardware has all been underpowered (though well made and innovative).

Looking forward to my Wii U arriving from the last Zavvi deal tomorrow and glad I waited a month after getting my fingers burnt by Nintendo price drops on the N64 and 3DS.

My launch Gamecube cost me £250, with games, 10 years ago. With inflation that is comparable in price.

The Gamecube and N64 were both relative to their competition in terms of raw power. It's only really the Wii that was underpowered compared to the competition.

I'm currently in the process of being burnt by price drops on this, but I hope you enjoy the console, it is a lot of fun.
