Wii U Console Availability: Pre-order now for delivery on 20 July 2012

Price shown is an estimate and will be subject to change upon Nintendo's announcement.

Pre-order Price Match: order this product with us today and if we reduce the price between taking your order and the release date, we will charge you the lower price!

(Update)

Wii U's launch price has been discussed by Nintendo at E3 2011.

President Satoru Iwata said that the console will "likely" cost more than ¥20,000 ($250 / £152), according to Nikkei (via Bloomberg).

However, previous Nintendo consoles have seen UK pricing above the direct currency conversion, suggesting a price point closer to £200 after tax.

Onlive is the future, just been testing it..

£400? ouch. I think Nintendo may have made a boo boo here. The Wii was phenomenally successful based on its family friendly accessibility whereas this is turning its back on that crowd.

They are now looking to go toe to toe with the 360 and PS3. Not sure they can compete.

Maybe but not until we get more stable net connections. If your net connection drops out - no gaming full stop.

Not worth it.. infact Nintendo gave a price in the region of £180.
#11
Deals don't come much colder than this!
I predict this will be a failure and not just because it's vastly overpriced. The whole concept seems a bit ridiculous to me.
#12
£400?!

Saying that, i wonder how much the controllers will each cost to replace when someone inevitably sits on one and breaks it!
#13
This will be arctic before the day is over.

But I will purchase next year.

People said the same when they came out with the N64, they said catridges would be the end of them. Then they came out with the Gamecube, and they said it lacked the power of the xbox and the game selection of the PS2.

When the Wii came out people said they'd never be able to compete with sony and Microsoft because they were using standard definition lower end graphics - they went on to be the number one selling console of this generation with microsoft and sony duking it out for second place.

With this console they are clearly taking everything they've learned from the DS about making dual screen games with touch input, and are applying it to the bigger screen.

Never underestimate what this company will do, or what they have planned for this.

Voted hot just so the deal doesn't dissapear haha :) 14p, classic.

EDIT* Just voted hot, it went from -159 to -213 hahah

Not ready to pay that much....

To post this deal now was not the right thing to do. Who is going to pay £400. Lets wait once it gets tested.

M$ & $ony are (with the exception of the multiplayer TV) just milking their existing platforms and/or producing "next-logical-step" improvements.

Nintendo do FUN better than anyone else and they were the only ones there who had innovated at all.
The thing that surprised me was the exclusion of blu-ray.
My Wii very rarely gets National Grid food but that's because I'm old!
Nintendo are for families and provided they secure the webcam feature to prevent grooming & bullying, they'll probably do OK.

I remember paying £800 for my Ninty 64 (although it came with a Dr64 and every game available).... still stings a bit but hey, I was young!! :D

Thanks for posting the pre-order, intesting date, other info said anytime between April & December 2012...... but any inflated pre-order like this has to be voted cold.

The reason the DS kicked the PSP's 4rse was mainly price. The Wii has been amazingly successful for the same reason. This has got to be cheaper come 2012...

From the reviews I have seen this is not so much a wired controller as a dirty thick cable controller! Big backwards step if that is the case.

I'd rather have a microconsole that I can carry in my pocket and transport, than the bricks we normally see..

The reason the DS kicked the PSP's 4rse was the fact you could get a tt card with hundreds of games on it for less than the price of one retail game, without any chipping etc. required...

Price may well doom the wii U, though. I always get 4 controllers (the wife doesn't game much, but the 2 kids and I do), and I dread to think how much it'd cost for four controllers on this. They've gotta be around £100 each, surely.

Looks like Nintendo are doing what they do best again... dumbed down console with childish games and no real staying power.... which is great for hitting a certain market and I think it far from a bad thing.. just not for me.

My Wii has been happily collecting dust since about 3 months after purchasing it on first release. The games are great for 5 mins when **** with you freinds but otherwise they just don't have any depth.

Not voted either way as it is too early to call this a deal more of a heads up a year in advance... but it needs to be a lot cheaper on release to work

Zavvi send me a "we are sorry" email every week or so for my 3DS Ocarina pre-order, there will be some amount of spam from them before the Wii U is out :o

There's a lot of people criticising paying £400 for it. There is a line of text saying "Pre-order Price Match: order this product with us today and if we reduce the price between taking your order and the release date, we will charge you the lower price! " so if it's not £400RRP when released, you won't pay £400! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that makes it a fantastic deal in the slightest, just pointing it out.

Why would the wii u cost less than 3ds, surely you get a controller with it?

Zavvi are just covering themselves with this price, to make sure they don't undercharge. Will have to wait until next year for the real price + release date.
#40
have they even announced or shown the console yet?! or just the pad!? oO
