Yeah...this is...not good.

Nintendo Switch coming out March 3rd. It's only like 70 quid more expensive by all accounts.
#4
I might buy one for the kids when the price goes right down once the Switch is out hopefully.

you would prob get more use out of this over the rest of this year, big games fan and bought every console on release date for about the last 20 years and have to say the switch game line up currently listed for the first 9 months of its existence is really poor bar 1 or 2 games.

I'm sure this will drop in price over the next 3 months though

Nintendo need to find a way for wii u owners to get their games on to the switch through their store for free that is if they will even run on it natively to give you a reason to upgrade whilst they get up to speed

I don't believe for a second the price on a "new" Wii U console will drop in price. If they were going to it would of happened already. I don't think many will sell to upgrade yet either as the switch isn't backwards compatible. They are stopping if not stopped already production on the Wii U so anything left with nintendo will probably sit and be used for current warranty replacements.

It's the same as what happend to the xbox 360 they announced that it was going out of production new prices went up and haven't came back down, if you want a wii u for a decent price you'll have to get one used now.

OMG HEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have stopped making wii u's and therefore this may be the cheapest you can get these brand new after this. Plus there is way more affordable fun to be had on the wii u than the switch with only one good launch title, which is also coming to wii u!!!

Seriously was this post a joke???

so much better off getting a WiiU over the switch for at least the next 2 years. If you have not played a WiiU with its brilliant exclusives then you really have missed out.

This is true... And if one plays their cards right, the games will be cheaper and have free online multiplayer - ie Splatoon, MK8, Smash Bros. Judging by Nintendo's previous behavior, together with their presentation, most Nintendo Switch owners will be getting enhanced "ports" for the first year or two anyway, for £50-60 a pop.

Classic Nintendo: Selling you the same s**t, different year.

i agree, unless you want local multiplayer, a great selection of family friendly games, and all the Nintendo exclusives. ps4 is probably the best option for the majority of post adolescent people, but we're not the only market. and life would be boring if Sony was the only option.

Both of these comments are tired, cliched arguments. The PS4 is a great "one-time" purchase machine that caters to a wide variety of tastes, and (some would argue rightfully) has become the defacto standard in the industry. But MS and Nintendo still have some great exclusives which Sony don't have access to.

At the same time, the argument that Nintendo consoles appeal to be those who are post adolescent and aren't family orientated is an outright myth that needs to be dispelled pronto.

I'd say that Nintendo consoles are boring. Not because their games aren't of good quality (yet only have one flavour), but because they lack third party support, and therefore aren't able to cater to diverse interests. Irrespective of what people may think of Sony and MS, at least they have numerous third parties supporting them, where even indies end up pumping out the kind of games that Nintendo fans wished the company still produced (Metroid anyone?).

yes it's a tired argument, but having all platforms including PC, I'm tired of all the unnecessary hate for different platforms, it's good to have the variety.

£40 less than the new switch super cold

A tad cheaper in Smyths @ £229.99 here

http://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/video-games-tablets/c-743/nintendo-wii-wii-u/p-6593/wii-u-console-32gb-black-premium-mario-kart-pack/?siteID=ORHQW7E8X5A-QeR.JxExbQMGVx4LGWVX8g

I would take the plunge if they hit the sub £200 mark again, however as has been said previously I fear there is little to no chance of that happening.

Not going to happen sadly. When docked for TV use, the Switch only has one screen.

Yes it did. Try and play mario kart multiplayer. Wii u released, less than 2 years later servers shutdown. Even less people own a wii u so not many people would complain when it happens again.

Apparently theres some custom server available, no idea how well it works etc, but it aint nintendo's.

The fact nintendo could have done what a group of amateurs have done and setup their own servers, shows that it was merely a convenient excuse. They just couldn't be arsed and realised it wouldn't make them any money. Don't blame them, I'd do the same as CEO if it forced users to upgrade to a newer console, and then rinse repeat.

Yeah thank god for the other console alternatives on the market who never release steady streams of generic genre titles.

Lets all diss Nintendo, the one non-mainstream console maker out there and brand them as the same old s**t.

You know... I actually typed up a lengthy rebuttal to you taking my comment out of context, but decided to retract my statement. All I can say is: just keep living in your bubble.

You would be crazy to purchase a PS4 over a gaming PC. It offers drastically better performance, huge game library, its upgradable and has significantly cheaper games. But hey, each to their own.
