Personally, I think you should all just stop waiting for price cuts and just pony up for this deal. Buy Mario Kart and get a free game and get in on the Nintendo Premium voucher doodah thing at the same time.

I don't see the point in waiting when the machine is already cheap and has cheap games on offer. Tightwads!!! :p

what's the general consensus, do you use the gamepad? I can't see myself using it so would welcome a standalone version.

It's never going to happen. The gamepad is integral to the system. Nintendo have already said as much.

*cough* Xbox & Kinect *cough*

Good deal for premium, but I still think the Amazon deal for the basic is better.

I wouldn't have thought a lot, The value is only about £11, yes thats for both.

Assassin's Creed is £6 brand new on eBay.
Batman is £8 brand new on eBay.

Didn't check shops but yeah.

If you sold those two for £14 (Around £10 after fees and sending off delivery in post) it's still a nice £180~ console. Premium consoles still sell for well over £200 on eBay.

edit: the cheapest premium console on eBay is £199.98 delivered and that's used!

Getting very, very tempted, especially with the Mario Kart offer running out soon...

I think they will announce some form of bundle/price drop once the MK8 deal expires. Well that's what I tell myself lol. Worse case I'm hoping for a price drop for Xmas :0)

Now need MARIOKART...

I went with The Pro Controller + Mario Kart 8 with Tshirt and Key Ring from Nintendo.co.uk

Then to redeem Mario for a free game...

Nintendo might threaten to release another console if people still pay this price. Wait for the £99 jan sales!

What is the cheapest mario Kart 8 is selling for now? (apart from buying this then using points to get a discount from thegamecollection)

If I didn't already have one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this. Great console and two excellent games.

Good luck with that, maybe if the gamepad wasn't included, they could do that.

I'm thinking of getting one. My wife works for tesco and they're doing 20% off for staff members so I could get the premium with Mario kart for just over £190.

Haven't got any other wii stuff so what else will I need? Is it worth it fit that price?

Think you missed the boat on that, with the earlier Tesco deal. I suspect a similar deal will accompany the release of Super Smash Bros (December?) but I doubt there'll be a price drop before then. Nintendo are sitting on enough cash to play the waiting game and they know future games like SSB, Legend of Zelda, Starfox etc will shift consoles, as did MK8. Seriously, is it worth missing out on months of quality play for the equivalent of a few sherberts down the pub? The back catalogue will keep you busy and some good games go for not much dosh.

I know i missed it by a day or so :( i have the PS4 to play and have pre ordered The Last Of Us so I'm hoping along with that and Infamous 2nd Son and any updates that come along for Trials Fusion it will keep me busy for a while.

I do however really want to play Mario World and Kart so might drop the hammer :P

Man you people are tight!! I bought my Wii U the day 3D World came out, I absolutely love it. wasn't sure what I'd make of the GamePad but now, I feel like I couldn't be without it! Get yourself a Wii U, some cheap games and those solid gold Nintendo exclusives, I'm convinced you'll love it. Also check out the e-shop for some neat stuff.

And finally gone for it :)

Been itching to grab the Mario Kart bundle the past few weeks, and working it out with trading the games in and stuff with this deal it works out even cheaper.

Good few games to enjoy now, and a few great games on the horizon for it, with this free game deal with Mario Kart ending this month seemed to make sense to grab it now, get the free game, enjoy the games now, and be ready to enjoy it more come next year :)

Without off tv play I would never have gotten much game time so for me the gamepad is the best thing since sliced bread

I agree. Game pad is great for some casual mario kart racing. Would not play any thing like as much if it was tv only. My 360 has been used maybe twice in last month compared with 2 or 3 times a week for wiiu, mainly thanks to the gamepad for off tv play.

I haven't really looked into the Wii U much but Windwaker HD was a big big memory of my childhood :)

Are there many things to download on the Wii U? Do people actually make use of the extra 24gb?

For me that's the best deal by a country mile. The value of the games/remotes takes the console down to sub £260.

I use it, it is very handy for zelda. Not having to pause to see the map etc. Plus it isn't your decision to make.

Yeah, the eShop is filling out nicely with great indie titles and the Mario Kart 8 free game promo is getting people to stock up on digital downloads. http://www.nintendolife.com/wiiu-eshop/games?region=pal&sort=rating

Shovel Knight is on the way soon (Out in NA to raving reviews pretty much across the board)
Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition (Metroidvania-style game with tons of Nintendo references)
Pullblox World (Particularly great if you haven't really played Pullblox/Fallblox though you do get a discount if you bought either before)
Mighty Switch Force 2
Duck Tales Remastered
Squids Odyssey (First game to be offered as a Cross-Buy if you buy if first on the 3DS)
Armillo
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails
Child of Light
Unepic
Stick It To The Man
Castlestorm
Art Academy
Zen Pinball 2
The Cave
Trine 2
Puddle
NES Remix 1 & 2
Cloudberry Kingdom
Star Wars Pinball
Kyntt Underground

I got the following installed:
Pure Chess (I'm using Miiverse to post a series of chess lessons)
Dungeons and Dragons
Another World
Edge
Rush
Swords and Soldiers HD
Block Drop U (at £1.29 for a limited time since the developer made a pricing mistake)
Pac-Man Collection
Spin the Bottle Bumpie's Party (Great for manic party play)
Brain Training (still free for now)
Toki Tori 2+

All the launch VC titles when they had the great 30p promo + Super Mario Kart

And now some full retail downloads:
Wonderful 101
Mario Kart 8
Legend of Zelda HD

So you can fit a fair bit into a Premium Wii U before needing additional storage.

You also have other upcoming eShop titles like:
Tengami, Amikrog, Swords and Soldiers 2, Oddworld: New and Tasty, Steamworld Dig, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, to name a few that are scheduled to release this year

still on the fence, have fallen out of love with gaming but the less "serious" games available for the wii u and the fact I have never owned a nintendo console makes it appeal to me. I just don't know if i would play it, my xbox 360 has been barely used since i bought it.

HOT, just ordered the bundle with Assassin's Creed IV. This is a good deal.
1 Like #40
Ah cool! Cheers for the reply buddy, but I've decided to go for this one (Assassin's Creed IV bundle), as I already have Wii remotes. I also picked up Mario Kart 8 for £36, making this bundle with 4 games (I want) £226. :)

Edit: Also apparently the premium bundle gets cashback on E-games? So now I'll get cashback on Mariokart + the free game it comes with. Woo!
