Wii U Premium Console, £249.99 from Simply Games, Basic is £209.99
This is probably the best deal on the Wii U at the moment, Premium Console pack at £249.99 and the Basic for £209.99.

My other deal for the Zombi U bundle is pretty good, but this one is REALLY good.

I pre-ordered the Wii but suspect I'll wait a few months before getting the Wii U. Partly price, partly I'm not so excited by it. And I've still got a few Wii games to finish first!
The Saturn was £400 when it was released and I remember buying the PS1 from a sony centre for £300 on the day of it release. Happy days:)
firstly how much is a second controller or all the additional add ons required to make it a 'family firendly' console?
Secondly if its true its not going to be much more powerful than current gen consoles, then £250 IS priced too high, wont be long before you will be able to pick up a 360 for £99 and a ps3 for £129 RRP methinks.
But then lets be honests its gonna be a console to keep the kids quiet (little johnny playng wiiu on main tv, mum wants watch big bang theory repeats for the 10th time so little Johnny justs play on controller scree' isnt it and not a 'gamers' console.

You don't need a second controller. There won't be any games that take advantage of a second gamepad until Summer 2013 at the least.
You're supposed to use your exisitng Wii controller/nun chuck as 2nd, 3rd & 4th player, most Wii accessories are compatible with the machine.
Without getting into a long slanging match (which is probably inevitable sadly), I suggest this FAQ which answers a lot of questions about performance and tech spec.

FANBOY INVASION ALERT
As soon as Wii-U was announced, Microsoft, Sony and PC developers thought oh good idea and soon you'll be able to use normal tablets and Vitas as controllers/screens/peripherals on forthcoming games on Xbox, PS3 and PC. So it's not like it's a unique selling point, not that it wasn't going to be much more than a gimmick in the first place. Also, the Wii-U isn't really a 'next gen' console (hate that phrase) as it's just a bit more powerful than a PS3, which came out in 2006.
