I have just picked up an official Wii Wheel from Toys R Us in Swindon. I had to ask in store, as there were not any on display. The entertainment dept manager went and collected a handful from the stock room for me.

Definately worth asking if you are going in - especially as they are only £6.99 - same price as Argos (now expired), and £1 less than the third party one that they also sell!

This item is not in their online store, you will need to ask instore (might be worth phoning before making a special trip - and make sure you speak to someone who actually knows what they are talking about!)

These were going for 6.99 in many shops yesterday, not really a stand-out price

I'm sure your meant to get a second one free when you buy the game from Toys R Us. I've got the wheel myself and do not like it, I prefer to play without it.

I bought 2 wii sports accessory packs at xmas which each came with a steering wheel. Would these do for mario kart or will i have to buy more?

It's just a piece of plastic, which doesnt actually do anything, so any wheel would be fine.

I found the wheel to be pretty good actually, I like it's feel, very comfortable and works well, only problem I have with the game is that the controls are NOT configurable, I would have liked the weapon button to have been underneath and the jump button on the D-pad, but Meh that's the only problem I can find with it so far :)

OK - Just trying to be of help - people seemed quite keen to hear about the Argos ones..........:whistling:

The second wheel they give you in Toys R Us is unofficial, as are most of the online/in store wheels on sale - this might not bother some people, but when it comes to making accessories, Nintendo have a way of making a bit of plastic feel like something a bit special

Agreed just got Mario Kart and got a freebie wheel from competition pro, just doesn't feel the same. Yes it's just a bit of plastic, but it's a good quality bit of plastic. Gonna chance my arm at returning the freebie and exchanging for the official one, MUCH better!

got the official wheel free with the game from gamestation on Friday. Like other people, it's much easier to play with the nunchuck to be honest and after using the wheel I wouldn't pay £6.99 for it
#15
I like playing with classic controller, aint tried the wheel though.
#16
I too find it easier with the nunchuck ,but the kids prefer the wheel and are always fighting over it as i only got one.
Also as far as i can gather you can't jump
#17
Voted cold, Nothing special about the price
#18
cant beat the good old gamecube controll for a good dicing sesion, just need to figure out the stunt button on it. will be plenty of wheels on flebay no doubt, those who want em go bid on em,
#19
Would highly recommend the Classic/Gamecube controller, much easier to boost while sliding
#20
£7.99 in game so cheaper when you consider trade ins :P
#21
Not fussed about the wheel, I just use the wiimote, my only problem is oversteering (the wii tend to send you in a straight line if you oversteer), other than that the game's great but I wouldn't shell out £7 for a new wheel.
#22
THe official wheel is great, gonna get me, I and the girls love playing the game with that.

To do a "trick/stunt" or to wheelie a bike just tilt the wheel up (for a trick do this just before you leave a ramp or bump) and you get extra speed. Doing all this with the controller is much harder.

We all have our preferences.

Paid this much from Argos, so not a hot deal Im afraid.

Yes, but Argos are no longer stocking this product - it has been removed from their website.

I really only posted this deal to indicate availablity of the product in store, as it seems to be a bit short on the ground. I know the price isn't outstanding, just thought it might help people get hold of one..............

wish theyd given me an extra official one in toys r us

got the game there as supermarkets near me were sold out... £35 with extra wheel isnt too bad...

extra wheel was some el cheapo thing youd expect to get at the market for a quid sadly

Went to my local Toys R Us today and they had sold out of the wheel. And shopto.net still shows them as pre-order. You can order it from the Toys R Us website but they want a fiver for postage.

Also looks like some greedy ****** has bought a load of them and is selling them on for a profit on ebay!!

I managed to get one from my local Argos today in Cambridge for £6.99.

I did happen to go into Asda today in Peterborough and they had them but they were selling them for £10
