I'm not too worried about the wires because the thing never gets moved so once its setup the wire doesn't matter anymore and of course a wired one has the advantage of never needing any batteries.

However, 4 quid is good for me because I've been after a spare one.

I am worried because my screen is too far from my wii for the sensor bar to reach

lol you can use any IR light source, even a candle

I'd rather keep fire away from my projector screen.

Personally, I would like to get a sensor bar that is socket powered rather than Wii powered. I am using a wireless Wii sensor bar right now, and it is a pain having to recharge the batteries every 20 hours or so.

The Wii is too far away from the screen so the length of the wire is an issue. Extending the wire across the room is possible, not particularly elegant so ideally, I'd like to have a sensor bar that can be bothered by a power supply located near the screen.

These are superb for people who want to use the wii remote with their computers or if you want to have your wii setup a long way from your tv, like in a pub for example. Getting the video/audio over an existing cable isn't too difficult, but an extra one for the sensor bar can be a pain. Also good for projector setups.

I'll be buying a couple of these, great post OP.

If you've got your lcd or plasma wall mounted with all the cables already chased into the wall then you've got no other neat option but to go with one of these peeps :)

Or you had the foresight to install a spare piece of cable (Cat 5 in my case) which you can use to power it instead.
