I'm looking for a smartphone for my daughter's Christmas. The Smart Ultra 6 seems better in every regard to this, and is £10 cheaper.

I've never stepped away from mainstream smart phones. What are ones like this really like? Any idea which OS they're similar too?? We bought my 11yo a Nokia and it's so un-userfriendly and slow. Wondering about something like this for Christmas...
Anyone have any thoughts or advice?

I bought the wife one of these toward the end of last year and she's loved it ever since. It runs a version of Android called Cyanogen, which means it's fairly close to the vanilla version of Android (quick, lightweight, easy to use). The build quality is good and it has a great look to it, I normally prefer flagship phones myself but can't help be impressed by this one, easily worth the £99.

Take a look at the reviews on Amazon. Some people love this phone, others have had problems (and Wileyfox basically don't do customer service).
I know that it's about £40 more, but the Moto G4 is a safer bet.

this is standard price for this phone.

I bought it cheaper about 4 months ago. its an ok basic phone.

the USB port is a tiny bit more recessed so many USB cables don't stay plugged in, I bought one as a second phone but sold it after only a couple of months

also if I had the power key camera shortcut on it would sometimes affect the actual function of the power key, meaning I could only switch the screen on by double pressing the power key to activate the camera and then exit, and need to remove the battery to switch the phone off

I have one of these (actually posting this off it). I've had the phone - and so far no complaints. Not sure about Wileyfox's customer service - but I have found Amazon's to always be excellent.

I've had the phone *approx 1 year*

Bought it in August through a previous HUKD deal. Love it. Bought my girlfriend a Moto G last Christmas, but after using both I prefer the Swift. Recommended.

Tried one, it's a nice phone, but has a terrible camera. Laggy and slow to focus if it focuses at all.

Your phone is faulty, so exchange it for a new Swift. The camera is decent, better than average for the price. Not laggy or slow & focuses crisply.

Had the phone for 6 months. No real problems but tried to purchase a back up battery from CS. Did not respond !
Any thoughts on suitable batteries ?

Not a bad price, the Smart Ultra 6 is obviously a better device if you can stick the larger screen :{

Buy British, buy Wileyfox.

I've had this for a year now, I thought the dodgy picture quality was because of the price. That being said, I haven't switched back to my Iphone since buying this for my holiday. Personally not into selfies etc.

OK, well if you're willing to try non-mainstream handsets, you might like to consider these three from eBay depending on your budget/needs:

- Bluboo Xfire 2 (~£45): 1GB/8GB/Android 5.1/3G/720p/Dual Sim + microSD/2,150mAh (recently ordered as a backup, ETA next week)

- Doogee X5 Pro (~£60): 2GB/16GB/Android 5.1 (6.0 expected)/4G/720p/Dual Sim + microSD/2,400mAh (owned for just under 2 weeks, very happy with it)

- Doogee X5 Max Pro (~£75): same as X5 Pro except Android 6.0 and 4,000mAh battery

I've written these specs from memory, so do double-check.

Are you still using the X5 Pro? How has it been?

Yes, still using it and very happy. The only issue I have had is when I tried to use 2 Three SIMs in it at the same time (one a standard 1-2-3 PAYG SIM, the other a free Data Reward SIM) - I could only get a signal with whichever SIM I specified as the one to use for data. No idea what that is about and haven't been able to get that working. A good chance that it's not a handset issue, though, and I've had to go back to having a TalkMobile SIM in there along with my 1-2-3 SIM. Apart from that it does everything I want and I wouldn't pay more unless getting a 1080p screen.
