ShopTo DID sell it for £200, but it's £220 now. Check here.

Don' forget an extra £5 Quidco too.

Could be the deal some have been waiting for?

Shame the 15% student code has expired.

I think premium + 2 games and an extra controller is better for £250.

didn't vote either way
#13

I'd recommend anyone planning on buying this spending the extra to ensure they get a newer HDMI model (for both improved reliability and the HDMI support).

HMV do a 360 Pro, NFS ProStreet and Halo 3 for £250, or Shopto who are selling it on its own for £220.
#17
any one have any idea what the train set will be reduced 2?

hot hot hot for the 360

Wrong! take it back to shop who can the send it off for repair or if you contact Microsoft directly theywill send out free shipping labels .
Reailer has no obligation to exchange or refund as microsoft will deal directly with you

hot hot hot for the 360

I am interested in the train set too! Hopefully a nice £50 reduction bringing it down to around £50.

I had the same intentions of getting the newer xbox with HDMI thinking its bound to be more reliable and last longer... three weeks down the line and the front has broken on it! The part where the USB slots are! GO XBOX!
I'm sure it was just a one off, but it is well worth getting the version with the hdmi, I believe it also has a newer CD drive as well as other updated internal components.

Fingers crossed for the Hornby fluffy25

how do we know this one isn't the edition with the HDMI?

As Halo said the above...
And I am sure that it hasnt been long since they started offering HDMI on xboxes but I could be wrong. The description on the site does not mention it. Shame there is not a picture of the box as you can tell from the box if it has it ( I mean the card board one it comes in)

By law the retailer is under obligation to refund, repair or replace (which one depends on the time passed since purchase). Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) it is the retailer who is liable for a product not the manufacturer.

Maybe before your tempted to use an exclamation mark in future you could spend 5 minutes on Google checking your information.

Just because you get a 360 with an HDMI connection does not necessarily mean it will have the newer Falcon chipset - far from it in fact. What you need to look for is 175W next to the power supply specs on the barcode sticker on the box as this will mean it is a Falcon (65nm chips with reduced heat output and increased reliability).

The older Zephyr chipset had 203W or 204W on the box.

I know that that is a law, but I'm sure I've only seen GAME do this. Is there some dodgy gray area that the Xbox 360 is put into due to its faults. Or do they HAVE TO replace / refund the item if you have a reciept.

I was just wandering.

No dodgy grey area at all. When you purchase a product from a store your contract exists with the store, they can ASK you to deal directly with the manufacturer as it's nice and easy for the store but the law remains the same regardless - they must Repair / Replace / Refund. In practice this very well might mean the store (if forced to deal with the problem) will accept the item and send it to microsoft on your behalf so essentially it's the same result unfortunately.

Some stores did however allow just plain swopping of faulty units within a time period, such as Boots (I believe they've not stopped carrying the 360 altogether due to the high churn of faulty units).

This taken from a recent email from Consumber Direct ref an enquiry I made:-

Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended), all goods supplied by a trader to a consumer must be of a satisfactory quality, fit for their purposes, and as described. If this is not the case, then you may have the right to reject the goods in question and ask for a refund.

The law states that you only have a short time in which to reject goods for a full refund, and once "acceptance" is deemed to have taken place, your rights will be limited in the first instance to claiming a repair, or possibly a replacement or partial refund. Unfortunately you are not able to request a specific remedy - you are entitled to the remedy which is most proportionate and which can be provided within a reasonable time.

No, but as far as I'm aware the HDMI models also have a heatsink that is fitted to older models when you return them to stop the rings of death, and you're certainly more likely to get a Falcon 360 if you buy an HDMI model.

BTW, as it's described as "Premium" and not "Pro" it's almost certainly an old model.

Tomorrow's deal

Currently £50, which seems fair, so at £30 or whatever, will be a good price

Just ordered a 360, they're currently offering free delivery but it does it by giving a £4.95 discount at checkout and still works if you choose to collect at store. So...

£199.99
- £4.95 delivery discount
- £5.00 quidco

= £190.04
