Looks like flimsey plastic but I wouldn't be surprised if you got nicked for sticking this on your bonnet.
I thought stickey out bits were banned years ago.

Nope, don't think so... just ones that wouldn't break easily or might puncture someones flesh etc in the event of an accident I think? there was a bit in the press a few weeks ago where this old boy had had a metal one for about 40 years or so on each successive car he'd bought and never had a problem, then a few weeks back something happened (can't remember what) and the copper that was called to the scene told him he had to remove it.

Anyway, off-topic there - can't imagine many people being interested in these as they look horrible... but each to their own

How awful.

Yep, proved me wrong.... just seems stupid to have something like that be "illegal", yet have still seen loads of people driving while using their phones etc. The other day while I was waiting to come out of a junction, saw a woman turn into the junction in a people carrier type thing and she was also on the phone at the time and had a young child in the front seat with no car seat too.... if they make stupidity illegal half the people in this country will be locked up.

Wasn't looking to prove you right or wrong.
I think getting hit by a car is going to hurt enough as it is.
Having one of those mascots on the front isn't going to make that much difference but I suppose every little helps.
I agree with the use of mobiles while driving. It really Ps me off.

Good posts you guys. Anything that we all can do to improve road safety and keep others alive is a good thing. Adding dangerous tat to a car is obviously wrong. I say this after being in a coma for over a month, after getting hit by a vehicle. Even someone's eyesight could be lost by being hit by a sharp object at speed.

Yep, sorry if what I wrote sounded like you were trying to prove me wrong..I meant that the artice DID prove I was wrong, not that YOU were trying to prove me wrong... man I hate that you can't get meanings across properly on forums and can very easily be taken the wrong way, LOL
from express
a traffic officer told me it was *illegal as it was a potential danger to pedestrians and I had to get rid of it.

Also, where I live loads and loads of people park on and opposite junctions etc.. in the highway code it saya that you shouldn't park within so many feet/metres of a junction. Yet when cop cars go through the village they ignore all these infractions. I can see someone getting hurt soon as it's getting worse... wondering whether there's something I could do, such as take pictures/video of the offending vehicles and send them to the police/DVLA or wherever to get them warned/fined.. anyone know?

Yep, I did a bit of searching on the net today and from all the threads I read they got the same response you mentioned about the council saying it's the police's responsibility and vice versa.
TBH I wouldn't mind so much if it was just one street, then I could avoid it.... it's the whole damn village just about - so whichever way I want to go I have to weave in and out of parked cars at junctions and on corners where they have been reduced to just (barely at that) one lane of traffic. OK, so I live at a fashionable (to the rich anyway) tourist place in the countryside near the coast... but the thing is that it only used to get busy here in the summer, now it's all year round and much much worse too. The parish council has had plans for the last few years to build a parking lot and then have it so that cars can't park on the roadsides... but that was nixed by a vote of the council members, surprise surprise that many of the council members are shop owners and they feared that not having parking in front of their shops might cost them money.... so instead we have to put up with congested streets and a very high possibility of having a car accident every day. I had 2 last year, neither of them my fault, but the bus that ran into me later claimed that it was my fault and yada yada, no more no claims bonus for me.. so with the village in it's current state I look forward to having 0% no claims for the rest of my life maybe??

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but it really Ps me off that because some are so short sighted, the rest of us have to live with stuff like this.
