As ever with these - they'll either be key-gen's or illegally redistributed OEM keys. Might work, might not work. Might last for years, might stop working in months.

I realised some time ago that morals go out the window when there is click through commissions to be made!

I particularly dislike the "mis-price go, go, go" posts that they make on Facebook and twitter. Some companies just can't afford the bill or the hassle of cancelling thousands of orders then dealing with the complaints.

This looks dodgy enough as it is but if you take a minute to understand OEM key licensing you'll absolutely know this can't be right. MS OEM keys can only be used with the hardware (motherboard really) on which they were first activated. The advert says these are OEM keys off broken PCs so strictly the license is tied to the broken motherboard and you should not use it on a different PC.
I'm not saying these keys won't work (at least for a while), but don't kid yourself that these keys are in any way legitimate.

Regardless of this deal, your information on oem keys is wrong.

usa = oem keys need to be sold with hardware and can't be resold after
europe = oem keys can be resold without hardware and are not tied to motherboards. (that is why you can phone up and revalidate oem key)

Basically the courts in the usa went one way with interpretation of oem keys and europe went another. MS likes to make you think - that everyone lives in the states.

safer to use as mentioned a win7 or win8 key and keep the assisted systems upgrade .exe as will automatically generate a new key on upgrade

Windows never good where updates are behind. If you google you will find out how to manually upgrade crucial updates that will get auto updates working

I've found sometimes you have to just let Windows updates run for awhile and do it's thing.

Alternatively I keep the update file for KB3213986, so straight after installing the latest version of Win 10 (1607), I run it and there's only minor updates left such as Windows Defender.

I hate these keys as much as the next person, but this isn't what happens when it's deactivated. You simply have the ability to specify a new key. You don't need to reinstall anything, or lose anything. It literally asks you for one when it's deactivated.

This stands true for even regular, pirated copies - specify a new key are you're good to go. No disk image needed, although you're restricted in what you can do with the OS until you specify a valid key.

Quite possibly. I work for a large organization and one of the IT guys told me that none of product keys on our PCs are registered as they use a corporate licence and their own (trimmed down) version of windows. So I photographed one of the labels and tried it on a home build. Worked a charm.

It's not only that. A lot of companies still use Windows 7 and some even use Windows XP (shudder) but they will buy brand new machines with Windows 10 OEM licenses bundled and those W10 licenses then wind up never being used.

As far as I am aware, thats not the case. The rulling by the Europen Courts on software didn't include OEM software bundeled with hardware, it referred to the reselling of software bought as a product in itself. I believe the test case was brought against Oracle because it said in it's licence agreement that the software could not be sold.

The only legal way, in Europe, you can sell an OEM licence is with the original hardware and legally, that licence cannot be installed on other hardware.

Windows 10 can be used (with limited functionality) without a key.
once you install and setup, you skip activation and that's it.
There is a 'nag' screen, but it still works like it should.

not necessarily. OEM windows key can be valid based on recycled PC. as the software is only 18months old, it is highly doubtful that any 18 month old PC would be deemed as so worthless that the most you get out of it is to sell the OEM software it came with. so yes, probably a keygen job.

It is against Microsoft licensing to sell OEM products keys that came with disposed laptops, pcs etc.
OEM are only intended for supply with a new PC,
If you have windows 7 or 8/8.1 then windows 10 upgrade is free and you will received the update notification through Windows updates

Just like Derek Duval said above, it's only FREE if you have a qualifying operating system to upgrade from, eg Win7 or Win8.

It's not a free upgrade if you have nothing to upgrade from.

Last time I installed windows I had a headache with updates, on other installs it was .NET framework missing. When I installed that on the last PC it sat there for ages. Eventually a day or two later it started to behave.
