Very hot! Heat applied. I can imagine it getting hot in here quick.

The question is, do I need this? What will it offer that my XP O/S does not?

Does anyone know if this OS has SATA drivers bundled in with it? All my hard drives are SATA and as far as I know, XP and Vista installs required separate SATA drivers.

Depends on the SATA controller in your system. Mine is supported in XP and Vista (whoop-de-doo), as are quite a few non cutting edge ones. Do you know what yours is? What kind of PC do you have? (or, which motherboard do you have, if you built your own PC)?
#23
* scratches head * How can they be out of stock if it's a pre order? Works for me.

Yes, the Windows7 install disc will recognise the SATA drives in your system. You shouldn't need any additional drivers.

#29
ordered, thanks.

Why do they charge your card immediately? I thought online shops weren't supposed to charge cards until the products are dispatched?
#30

SP3 XP and Vista both worked with SATA afaik. In fact I did a clean XP SP3 install yesterday with no issues.

It's ridiculous, I do agree. Have written an email to them about it and received a useless response which completely dodges the question.

It came up as Out of Stock for me when I went via Quidco but when I used the link in the first post it comes up as In Stock. Added it to my basket, then went in via Quidco to check out.

It should automatically recognise the controller (and thus the drives), but it won't necessarily - whilst they work fine with most SATA controllers, XP & Vista both don't recognise the SATA controllers in some Dells - you have to put the drivers on a memory stick to make it install on them. I would imagine that Windows 7 will ship with drivers for most current hardware (as of this month, when they finished it!)
