I was looking around for a new O/S, and found this to be the best deal around. Although this is a pre-order (and I'm not sure when it is released), this seems to be a very good price for new software.
Also, don't forget 3% cashback through quidco !!

Available at PC World, Dixons or Amazon for £69.93

It never was £149.47.

Its previous price was £45-£50.

This got very hot a while ago at around £45 preorder...though now the cheapest might be around the £70 mark...have a look at ebuyer...i think they were doing the best deal before!

My thinking is, don't rush into a new OS too quickly (unless you use it only as a backup). I will wait at least for server release 1 before I replace my trusted and stable XP. If I was with Vista, I might consider it a bit sooner.

Windows 7 E Scrapped

Anyone else think this could get complicated for those that pre ordered the "E" version?

Depends what they replace your order with, the full Retail version, the full OEM version, or the upgrade version.

Have they announced that yet ?

I bought it as it would have been a full version, I do not want and upgrade or OEM.

I guess we can send it back under distant selling regulations.

I have not seen anything, I guess the best way is for Microsoft to send full versions then everyone can install it.

This could get interesting!!!

We've asked Microsoft for confirmation on its plans for customers who ordered E versions. The company is still to get back to us.

Yes. They are going to ship the full version to those who already pre-ordered with browser.

No, I mean the new full version shipped to pre-order customers in Europe will have a browser included. This what you'll get if you pre-ordered the E edition: Windows 7 Home Premium (Full Version) or Windows 7 Professional (Full Version). There is not going to be a browser-less "E" edition now.

They will be sending a Windows Update that lets you choose which browser(s) you want on or after October 22nd.

Available at John Lewis for £49.95 in store only but they will not charge you until you collect on or after the 22nd of October so £70 is a bit steep.
