Plenty of Netbooks are running (proper) Windows 7 versions on this spec.
I personally can't see a lot of difference between it and XP, both are slow, too slow for my taste but little to choose between them & I would buy a dearer small laptop but if you want the portability at this price level, then it does the job.

That's not true. I run Windows 7 Ultimate (with Aero) on mine and it runs same speed as XP but smoother. You can speed up a bit with extra ram but for surfing and office work it's fine with 1gb.
