I bought Vista Ultimate from here a few months back for a very similar price, OEM edition. Legally because it's OEM you must buy hardware with it, I just chose a very cheap mouse.

System works just like a retail disc. One time I changed the hardware (changed the RAM) and it became "unactivated", just called MicroSoft and they gave me another key over the phone.

Extra £5 with coupon attached when purchasing with google checkout (kudos kata121212)

Aria is very well known and weirdly enough is where i bought my copy of Vista OEM from a few years ago!

As for it being OEM, since buying it, i have installed more hard drives, changed the graphics card, updated the BIOS, added more memory and it didn't even ask about activation. The only problem i had was when i physically moved the hard drive into a totally different machine (from single core to quad core, ****** old gpu to flashy new one etc...). It mentioned activation and all i did was ring some automatic voice phone number, type a few numbers into the keypad and it told me a code to type into my pc and it was back and up working again in less than 2 mins.

Great site, used them many times. Delivery times can be next day - they use CityLink.

Never had to return to them themselves but have done to eBuyer (and I think they're the same company, very very similar websites) - no problems whatsoever.

Note - eBuyer and Aria may not be related at all - please can somebody on this forum verify

Totally unrelated.

OK my bad scratch what I said about returns; they do use CityLink though (usually next day delivery).

Microsoft licensing OEM terms changed with Vista. AFAIK, you can no longer just buy a mouse or similar to qualify. I think(but could be wrong) that this is pretty much now tied to motherboard only - IE you need to buy a motherboard(as part of a PC or not) to qualify for the OEM.

This doesnt of course mean that you cant successfully buy it anyway. But if you are going to break the licensing terms, you may as well just download it for nada....

Erm, you could but then if you are worried about data privacy/ spyware / malware in any way then its not such a great idea.

If you pruchase a copy you know that it is free of nasties (at least until you put the PC on the internet that is!!!) and for the sake of £60 quid for OEM software - its a worthwhile investment.

Its not worth playing with these "freebies" in my book, despite the HUGE temptation.

Oh and of course its illegal.
