I thought many insurance companies provide this free.

Worth checking your car insurance as most offer this as a free service via Autoglass or Auto Windscreens.

This is free from any insurance company.

Not all. Some charge a £20 excess. Also if you're third party cover you won't have windscreen cover, plus some 'economy' comprehensive covers don't include it either.

Not free with Axa/Swiftcover for starters (£15 excess). Many budget insurers now only offer cover as an optional extra and most people with a TPFT or TPO policy will have no cover at all. Also worth considering even a free repair will be considered a claim on the policy by some insurers so you'll end up paying for it anyway. No one ever reads their policy documents!

This is true. If you get your insurance company to do this for free then you have to declare it for the next 5 years as a claim on your insurance. Wish I knew about this offer before I paid my £15 excess to have my windscreen repaired last week through Swiftcover

I have seen the quality of repairs they have done (shocking). Always use a certified company to do job as it is guaranteed and use a lot better equipment. (I do this for a living)

Or about 3 quid from aliexpress

For about £4 you can buy a kit yourself on ebay, it does work, depending how bad the chip is.

Cracks cant be repaired.
