Yukkety yuk
All so wrong for so many reasons
Don't give a kid a full-size violin
These Windsor violins are so scratchy your kid will give up within minutes
Mind you, at £29.99 reasonably priced firewood.

Out of interest, Muscals, what would you suggest for a decent child violin.

My son does cello and piano, and I've been looking at violins lately. Would you be able to suggest something cheapish?

Hi thekanester, of course.
Your best bet is to get your child measured - or ask your violin teacher for their recommendation. Then, armed with this recommendation, I'd hire an instrument, not buy one. Your child will probably be ready to move up to the next size after less than a year, so why waste the money buying it? Footes - http://www.footesmusic.com/prodtypespecial.asp?s=xsv5jj432674&&strParents=&CAT_ID=327 - used to do this, you could also try Sheehan's - http://www.sheehans.com/violins-violas-cellos/help/violin-viola-cello-rental. PM me for more - happy to help.

Hi musicals

Thanks for that. My boy hires his Cello from school. It's kind of old and musty, but is obviously better quality than the kind of Chinese import you'd get from Gear4Music. He won't be able to take both instruments at school, so I was hoping to pick one up for him to play on, but hiring, from somewhere like Sheehan's seems to be a much better prospect tbh.

Thanks for that! repped.

My pleasure... there are plenty of other hirers out there besides Sheehan's so shop around.
A good quality instrument can really motivate a young player... and also the parents :-D
