Wine £2.00 per bottle at Asda!

Chandler's Ford Asda were selling red, white and rose wine for £2 per bottle today!

There was a choice of one red, one rose and about four types of white wine. All various brands.

It was selling VERY quickly so won't have lasted beyond mid-day. HOWEVER, a little bird tells me that the manager only put part of the stock out today and will put more out tomorrow, in order to give everyone a fair chance.

Dunno if it's just this store or a nationwide offer; best to phone before making a special journey!

they are reduced from around £5.75 i think and we havent had a bad one-im no wine buff though..

The reason the wines are reduced is because they are deleting the lines ready for sunday night when they change the layout of wines
The chances of finding any of the £2 wines now are pretty slim but you may find some as for them putting some out tomorrow to make it fair this is highly unlikly as they need rid of them asap.

I bought a selection of white wines, one of which I have tasted before (It's perfectly OK) and the others I haven't.
Personally, I find *most* cheap wines OK if they are well chilled before hand and only remember buying one undrinkable one (A bulgarian white) but then again I'm not fussy...if it gets you drunk and makes you fall over then it's OK!!
I bought a selection of..
White Italian table, Australian Sauvignon Blanc, South African Chardonnay, Scicillian Bianco Dry and Spanish Cabernet Sauvignon Rose. All range between 11.5% and 13.5%. Not sure about the red as I didn't buy any.

I assumed it was one of the now regular Asda £2 deals?

Bought a bottle of the Sicilia Bianco yesterday to go with our meal last night. I wouldn't reccommend it - spend the extra few quid on a decent wine. Or cook with it!

Don't cook with anything you wouldn't be willing to drink!

Why not?

Because if it tastes so bad to actually drink it, it will make your food taste horrible... (unless you don't mind wasting a meal...)

It's amazing how I've brought €3 bottles of wine in France, to come back home in the uk and buy £7 bottles here, and the €3 tasting like it's the £7 bottle... Also noticed bottles of wine here costing about £6 which you can get in France for €2...

But saying that, I've seen bottles of wine in tesco/asda which are apparantly worth £8 being sold for £3... If they can sell at such a "loss", then I doubt it's really worth that...

If an expensive red tastes like vinegar then it's been corked.

You old cynic ;-);-) a 100% statement of truth.
I can assure you there are buyers from a certain supermarket chain will not even bother to try ANY!!! samples at trade fairs costing above 50 Euro cents per bottle.
As they say you can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.
