Pretty standard padding; the same as any play gym. But what is better about this one imo is that they have cushioned areas on the outside. Stops the baby from rolling away. But at the age they are aimed at the baby can't do much rolling anyway.
We sold ours for £15 on ebay once he's outgrown it also.

Don't know about returns. I always reserve online and collect instore. There is a delivery charge, which is why I buy from them the way I do.:thumbsup:
