Another bargaqin box-set at HMV...

The heat is on in Baltimore. The drug war is being lost, bodies are piling up, and a desperate mayor wants the tide turned before the election. But the police department hasn't got any answers. Wiretaps haven't worked. Neither have stakeouts or street busts. With the demolition of the Franklin Terrace Towers, Stringer Bell and the Barksdale crew have been forced to improvise. But no matter how hard McNulty and the detail try, the dealers always seem to be one step ahead of the game. Rules change. The game remains the same. A new story continues...on the third season of The Wire.

What is this series like ?

Great show - half way through season 2 at the moment.

Not as good as the sopranos - but a close second.

An excellent series, this and The Shield are the best of the TV US imports.

Great price.

awesome show, great acting from a diverse cast (3 or 4 brits in there and you wouldn't realise!) series 3 was my favourite so i'll be copping this.

Dont you guys feel the show is a little too "street" - am I too old or something, because sometimes I cant understand the dialogue.
The show is great though, I already own season 1 + 2 and now 3 is on its way. Thanks bookie!

This is the best show on TV!

However it's best to start with season one as there are strands from season one that feature fairly large in season 3.

Well worth the investment.

I would argue (as would many others) that The Wire is actually better than The Sopranoes. That said it really doesn't matter as long as they're both great TV shows that we get to watch.

I definitely agree with Phonk in that you should watch from the start, seasons 1 and 2 are only £18 from play, and they're certainly worth it.

Thanks for the deal, I was holding out on season 3 as it's been so expensive thus far.

The 1st Season was outstanding and the best of all 4. Very realistic situations, technological evidence gathering, moral and ethical dilemmas. Seasons 2,3 and 4 are superb but not quite as good as the 1st. Probably one of the best dramas to come out of the US in the last few years, the situations ,offending and investigation are credible and set against the personal agendas of the Police and the criminals.

About as close as serious crime investigation, UC Police work and covert surveillance gets without doing it.

The 'street' factor is exactly why I love it - they're not afraid to portray things exactly as they are without toning down or anything... I guess it could be alittle hard to follow if you're not familiar with the culture

I guess you could use the subtitles - I know I have on occasion as they do keep it real.

Well at least thats how it seems to this white boy in Scotland.

Anybody got a cancellation/dispatch on this yet?

Yeah both this and my Entourage order were cancelled by them. How very annoying.
