Could you ever see this being for sale for £69.98??? I don't think so, it looks really cheap when you look at the large image. I am after a doorbell though so I may pop down and see what its like in the 'flesh'!

Digital Alarm clock door bell! wat ever next?
WOW this is GREAT
What does an expensive door bell look like?
#4
hey JRW, I'm not asking you to buy one, merely letting people know it's on offer, silly me I thought that's what this site was for!

For £7 or £10 what do you want, a mini version of Big Ben in your hallway???
#5
No I wasn't slating it, what is it with this forum? I was just mearly saying that there is no way that would ever be sold for £69.98.

I meant it looks cheaply made when I said it looks cheap. For example compared to this:

I'm sure they wouldn't be able to sell as WAS and NOW if it hadn't been that price at some time.

I don't really care what it looks like anyway, it's not like I'm buying one to sit and look at all day, are you?
#7
Well, I like it, personally. It's cheaper than 'ordinary' wireless door chimes as far as I can see. Good spot. Reserved one at my local store. Voted hot and rep given.

Just buy a plug in one then. It was probably that price hidden in store for about a week to legally do a WAS/NOW scenario like most places do post xmas to make it look like your making a massive saving.

The likes of DFS and SCS do this all the time with their double discounts etc...

Carpet right is terrible for that, one day 3.99/sqm the next was 5.99/sqm now only 3.99/sqm!!! BARGAIN DAY SPECTACULAR! TODAY ONLY!

Sorry probably got carried away there.

I'd like to start a lobby that forces individual shops to have actaully sold items at the previous price for 6 months in order to be allowed to advertise it as such. Current legislation allows chains to sell at the higher price in just a few of their stores in order to advertise that nationwide.

My personal hate is MFI's never ending sale. I once wanted some bedroom furniture from them and they told me to come back in two weeks because it was that store's turn to not have a sale on.

It doesn't seem fair to individual retailers who can't operate the same bait and switch.

I think mrhaddock prefers cheap and nasty if its getting personal
#15
ouch, you've cut me to the quick!

better cheap and nasty than expensive and nasty, afterall its a doorbell, like i said if you want to be sad and sit looking at it all day then go buy your Oregon one for probably 20 times the price, i don't think the image you posted is even a door bell!!
#16
Did I even say it was a door bell? I was pointing out the aesthetics of the design compared to the Maplin. Its pretty point less having all the extras on that one if your not going to look at it. What you gonna do, disguise it or something.

The whole fact I was stating anyway is that it is way too cheap and nasty to be ever sold for £69.98, £6 odd is fair price for this. You are going way off the point. I never said that I want to sit and stare at it because I wouldn't want it in the first place, ive got a watch to tell the time and a thermostat to set the temperature.

Now now boys, play nicely!! Getting back to the subject in hand (wireless doorbells that is) Lidls are doing one from Thursday 1 February for £3.99. Ok, it's not all singing, all dancing like this one but it seems this doorbell is going to be chiming every five minutes with birthday reminders and alarm clock!! ;o)
