Excellent, have been looking for a cheap one of these.

This is NOT an official Microsoft piece of hardware. The title doesn't make that pasrticularly clear.

It looks to me that ANY 2.5mm headset will work with the 360. If you want to pay £15 for one that comes in a box that says Microsoft then go ahead and do that. The quality of Microsoft's one is so bad its not worth even £1.

Indeed, just pointing out the fact to those that thought they were saving £10+ off the price of an official headset.

A note to anyone who's official headset breaks, you can ring MS and get them to send you a free replacement.

Really? I might investigate. I'd barely used mine and had problems with it when I signed up again for XBox Live again.
Though it has seemed okay over the last week.

I swear blind that my pad's analog stick has always pulled ever so slightly towards the right too.

A warning to anyone going to the Deal Extreme website - you will spend a fortune!!

Honestly, if you are at all gadget-obsessed, this is the ultimate site. The prices are incredibly low and shipping (from Hong Kong) is completely free!
Check out the Cree LCD flashlights. Amazing.

If your XBox is over 12 months old...then they won't replace anything that came as part of the package....so you won't get a replacement pad unless the actual package you bought it with is under 12 months old. This excludes the actual 360 console itself with its "3 rings of death warranty " which is now a full 3 years warranty from MS.

If you have an XBox then you'll have the number...if it's broken you'll know what to say.......from your post it sounds like neither is the case. The MS support team will ask you for your console ID number to prove you own one, they'll also ask you when and where you got the headset, then tell you to take it back to the shop you bought it from since the retailer is legally responsible for replacing it. Trust me, MS support staff are well versed in the art of putting you off!

If anyone is thinking of phoning MS just to try it on for a free headset ( I'm not suggesting anyone on this site would be so cheap ) then don't think they'll just take your call and send one....you WILL be questioned by their non English support personnel and put on hold several times.......and if they suss that you're ( in their opinion ) trying it on, they'll politely refuse you.
