why is this cold? are there any better deals? I was looking for one of these...
#2
I have been looking for one of these for AGES. As long as it works, I do not care if it is generic! 360 wheel on PC = win.
#3
looks a good deal to me, cold voters never come out of the closet and speak lol
#4
Looking for a cheap one of these recently, bought one, voted hot - thanks.

Flip! no wonder my tries at co.uk were getting nowhere fast!

Took them long enough to reverse engineer this.

Voted hot.

That's the deal I got, but not everyone wants a pad and receiver, therefore this suits those individuals.

and whats the best price now?
i got a 360 on the recent amazon deal for under £130 with extra controller and 2 games
so are all 360 deals now cold?
#14
I've been waiting for this one to come back in stock for the last 6 months... perhaps I should give up!

http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=XT1070&title=xbox_360_crossfire_wireless_gaming_receiver_for_pc

it is around what I want to pay for it though, £9!!
#15
They dont sell receivers on their own any more.

They are ONLY bundled with controllers, except obviously from dx so this is actually a good thing if you want to pay the premium, as someone else mentioned though £18 gets you this + controller.

CEX do/did them for £8 preowned.

Heat added anyway cause these are damn rare.
#16
keep an eye here

http://www.cex.co.uk/search/index.php?stext=xbox+360+receiver&ispostback=1&mode=buy

Picked one up for a £10. They come in and out of stock
#17
Just bought an official one off ebay for £16.99, from a UK seller too with extremely high/positive feedback. Well worth a few quid extra imo than going to Deal Extreme. Think the seller has over a hundred left too, which seemed a bit off, but meh, can't argue with the seller's ratings.

Will post if it works when it arrives.
#18
Seen the official Microsoft ones pre owned in gamestation for 4.99
They're not on the site, but i'll see if i can get a pic tomorrow :)
Need to go pick up Bayonetta anyway :p
#19
I'm sure I paid less for my official one two years ago. Wonder why they stopped selling them on their own
#20
Typical MS forcing you buy something you don't need.

I have been looking for one of these for a few days now, if it says they have 1-3 in a CEX store how reliable is that ?
#21
Bangin deal!!
#22
Title is a wrong. This is for PC not Xbox 360. Wouldn't usually care but it may help people who don't know what this does.
#23
Hi,

I wondered if you help me.. I am aware these are meant for use with a personal computer, but would it be possible to use this to extend the wireless controller range on the XBox itself?

Because you see (unlike me), I was diagnosed as being long-sighted a couple of months back, and unfortunately my optician gave me the wrong glasses, meant to fix short sightedness.

Thank you in advance for your help
#24
Umm, how about go back to your optician and get the right glasses.

My controller still works when I'm two rooms away from the xbox. How far away are you trying to use it from?!?
#25
not voting on this as no idea of the quality, however, assuming its the same as the ms one.

a few words of warning

control pad wise.

when it works it works well, however many (around half in my experiences) on board usb controllers cant cope with it very well. i *think* it may be due to power draw but i am not sure.

to get it to work on my 3 pc's (using different hardware) i needed to remove all usb devices, boot the pc with this plugged in, then plug in all devices again. it then worked until i turned off my pc, but then i had to rinse and repeat.

as you can imagine it gathered dust for some time. (the bug is widely reported - basically it will not train properly to the pc unless you do the above).

1 fix which does work well, is to use an externally powered usb device. this fixes the issue, and is what i now do (another use for my xbox hddvd drive ;) )

ALSO

it states ms wireless racing wheel support

* no force feedback support*.

i purchased the adapter on launch, primarily so i could use my pc racers with this wheel, the MS website as well as retailers stated "force feedback coming soon". That was at start of 07. last time i looked (middle of 09) they were still not coming, and promises from MS of force feedback coming soon have magically gone.

i havent looked since then as i got rid of my pc capable of runnign new pc games. my only use for this adapter is playing oolite on my media pc .

Am not saying do not get this, when it works, for control pads it IS great but for me, too much faffing, and i have ended up getting a wired pad. i only use the crossfire adapter on the rare case i need a 2nd pad for pc gaming.

Mine's pretty much the same, with the controller downstairs I can switch on the 360 upstairs.

If only my wifi network was that good! :)

I would be tempted by this, but if they're available pre-owned for cheaper I might just keep an eye out for one of those. And £13 is a bit more than I would be willing to spend (lose) with Deal Extreme. So no vote from me.
#27
I managed to get the real one from PC world for £7.97 a couple a years ago, it was a good buy. That said they are hard to come buy at a reasonable price so voting this hot.

The official one works fine on my laptop. However I will point out that I found it very fiddly to use on Windows XP. No issues with it on Win 7 though as it completely configured itself.

Can 2 Controllers work of the 1 Gaming Receiver on 1 PC ???

And that deal isnt on anymore

Wish some people would have common sense when posting stupid comments and cold voting because it was cheaper 6 months ago, its not now is it!

Hot by the way :)

Here's a question for the people who already have these. My PC and Xbox are in close proximity (they use the same projector), what happens if I want to use this on the PC? If I turn the controller on, won't the Xbox turn on?

From the official specs;

Use up to four Wireless Controllers and four Wireless Headsets simultaneously with one Wireless Gaming Receiver.

I don't know if this version can do the same though.

Yeah, it's possibly the most irritating thing ever! I hate booting my XBox on and off quickly, I'm sure it's a nice way to red ring the system.

Had the same problem when using the play & charge kit to power the pad from the PC, but unless i'm imagining things that seems to be fixed with Windows 7 :?
Have recently started turning the 360 power brick off at the wall anyway as it seems to guzzle electric.

Wondering about this too, although I'm guessing there's a little button on the receiver to synchronise with the control pad, which therefore means that the pad only works with the receiver and not the 360 console? Until you re-synchronise the pad with the console that is.

The receiver has a sync button, the issue is that when you turn the pad on to make the sync it automatically turns your 360 on.
#38
This looks great! Thanks for this - didn't even know they existed!

I run everything off one socket so they're all powered on and off at the same time! Perhaps one of those switched extension sockers will do the job...
