In-store went to local pc world got last one was £24.97 reduced then went to swipe it and came up @ £14.97. Great N1 Router for under 15 quid! Was a returned product but everything was sealed apart from the ethernet cable plastic bag, maybe someone else could find a little gem like this just be aware for n routers in clearence. Good luck!

Plus the buy one get one free on PS3 games is quite cool and all other games and software with the red sticker on it.

adsl routers have the modem built in and dsl ie cable routers dont have the modem built into them
I tried hooking up a adsl router as a dsl hub and had all sorts of problems as the router ket trying to connect to the adsl connection and couldn't as there was no phone line plugged into it and kept locking the router up.

OP, if this is the wrong router for you, I would be more than happy to buy this from you :)

Rule of thumb is ADSL connections connect using the BT phone line (ISPs include BT, AOL, O2) and cable use a seperate connection, like Virgin Media.

Cable routers are normally much cheaper than their ADSL equivilants

Both ....it's just a Network Router ...it has no modem in it.

You connect it to either your Cable modem OR your ADSL Modem. ;-)

Thanks much appreciated.
Was sure the router I bought some time ago was specific to Cable. A Belkin G router which works but, coverage is not that hot so might try and find one of these to replace it.

Thanks again.

Good for you but not a deal on here if nobody else can get it....cold

I see it is for cable virgin but I have connected by g router to the n1 router (the g router acting as a modem) the adsl is going through g but the ethernet is plugged from n1 to pc and it working....

Basically I was wondering will I get better signal for wireless or not?

Thanks,

If not anyone wanna offer? :p

This router is mainly designed for Cable internet or if you have a 'seperate' modem for adsl which is very unlikley these days, most if not all adsl providers give you a router with a modem built in, this is pretty useless unless you are using Virgin or need a 2nd router for somewhere else in the house.

This will improve the wireless if you connect wireless device >N1 router > adsl router > internet however thats a whole lot a kefuffle for what really will not be much benefit. Also as far as I am aware you will see not much increase without a like for like wireless network card, if you still have a standerd wireless card the max wireless speed will stay the same.

Also this will be a store specific deal so posting it and saying ' I bought the last one' I mean come on? what on earth was the point of that?, that is laughable.. COLD

So as a cable user is there any point in me upgrading to this from a wireless G Belkin? Mainly to improve the wireless reception to XBox and PS3?
Thanks in advance
#31
If anyones on sky broadband, theres no point in buying another router like this, as it wont work. Sky broadband has its username and password embedded into the router.
#32
Oh brilliant - this will be worth the 30 mile trip to pc world - Can't wait.

See you in two hours when I get back.

Awesome.:w00t:

Am gonna call at PC World at Chester in a couple of hours just to check out what the 'clearance' sale is like. I know it's store specific but hopefully I'll be able to post back on any bargains that most stores are likely to have.

Cheers,
Steve

No, as your xbox and ps3 are still using the same wireless style.

Not necessarily true. Take a look at my post here:

I've explained (roughly) how to use a cable router with an ADSL router acting as a glorified modem. I've done it with my Sky ADSL router and my Linksys WRT54GL cable router.

Although it may have a better range, especially if you have one of the cheapo single aerial wireless G routers. Obviously this would only apply if you have problems with your xbox/ps3 losing the connection because it's so far away from the router.

Cheers,
Steve

None in my nearest PC World and no other decent clearance deals. No wonder their was nobody at the tills (apart from repair/returns desk)

Got two little aerials on:?

Its a Belkin so I only really wanted to improve the signal to XBox and PS3. I dont really lose the connections a great deal only now and again.
