Could someone remind me how LX apply their discounts? Are they the ones that charge you full amount and then refund you?

Cheers.
#2
Too bad you need to have an LX Visa account ;(
#3
oops I double posted this, any chance a mod can close one of them :S

Everything looked OK ie price was £8.19... until the last screen where it asks how you want to pay (cc or account). I tried both options and next screen had total cost of over £32.

Shame looked a good deal:-(
#5
If i sign up for their "Flexible Account", as long as I pay the amount in the statement every month within the required time, i shouldnt get charged interest, should I?

Does anyone have this Flexible Account?

or just close both of them ....
#7
sorry if this sounds naive, but I'm not sure these bargain threads should include offers which are contingent upon opening credit accounts... These incentives are there to try to get people to commit themselves to debt and, while it's true that we might be able to play the system, it just doesn't feel very 'hot deals' to me... might just be me, though...
#8
You don't actually have to open a credit account. The total at the top of the screen changes back to the full amount, but when you pay for the item using a credit/debit card the total does include the discounts.

I tried the codes on 2 plug and play kits which I needed anyway and paid using my credit card. When I received my email receipt it included the discounts. A grand total of £5.50 including delivery for both of them. The other half is now ordering a kettle. heh heh.

MERRY XMAS!!!

The LX Direct codes are a bit hit and miss, but you don't need a credit card with them for this to work, sometimes.
#10
mine went through fine - £8.19 including the discounts

oh bum, forgot quidco though..
#11
worked for me... all the way through

I would steer clear of LX and discount codes. People in other threads have been reporting not getting the £25 taken off when the time came for the money to leave their accounts (when the item is dispatched)
#13
I tried, but I think it doesn't allow it if you have already used the code previously?

thought this looked a good deal, but like other deals which look good at the moment only to refer to an LX Direct code which can only be used once by each person/visa.

I used this LXDirect code twice over a month ago on two visa's, so cannot use anymore.

It's like the ASDA £10....loads of deals which use the same code, which can only be used once.

Would it not be better to have a thread for the LXDirect code and people just add what they think is a good item to buy with this code?

It just gets frustrating to see the same codes being used for different items.
1 Like #15
Yeah I second that. A thread should be created just for this discount code! I think every item LX direct sell has been posted here over the past few months in it's own individual thread using this as a hot deal. Maybe a search before posting would eliminate this. I used the codes months ago to get a wireless controller.
#16
I used a similar code to get the 360 Live Vision Camera for £10 last week. £35 was charged then £25 was credited back when it was dispatched

I did the same :(

Btw people... this is a Visa credit card offer. I think you *may HAVE to pay with a via credit card. Voucher worked fine for me though!!!

The reason why I posted this was becuase lots of people will be looking for an xbox controller for christmas their are loads of threads. I know quite often the same codes are used a few times, but it can make you see deals which are particualily good value without trapsing through LXdirect looking et every product!

I hope some people found this useful, but if you didnt just ignore it!

Most likely some people did find this useful, no problem with that. It would be easier for me to ignore it if the title mentioned using an LXDirect code which potentially has been used by many people already.

and maybe, if people are looking for xbox controllers then most likely they won't "traipse" around LXDirect looking at every product, maybe they will just look at the xbox controllers!

I hope some people found this deal useful, not having a go at you, just think there are too many deals listed which use the same LXDirect code.

I've been looking at this lx code for a while now but never took the plunge because every time it went to the payment screen it went back up in price, however I did need an xbox wireless controller for my son for xmas so i thought i'd try it as i had nothing to lose.

It went to the end payment screen and the price went back up to £32 something, however when i paid with my visa debit card the price went down to £8.19

I'll update when dispatched if they took the right amount

thanks to the op for this
#21
Yeah, I just ordered this on a Barclays Visa debit card.

First it goes back to the full price, then on the final page, it says £8.19.
#22
its worked, so good so far.

The times I have used the code, it required a Visa Credit Card, not a Visa Debit.

But when trying to order with a Visa Debit, it was refused, so if yours has been accepted, then maybe it is related more to your card, maybe it takes it as a Visa Credit?

They should take the full amount, then you should see a credit for £25 on the same day from them....
#24
ok, i think people should say which visa cards work and which don't. I have a visa electron card and am afraid to use it as i dont know if i get the credit back or not.

I tried using a Visa Debit, but LXDirect knocked it back....I then used a Nationwide Visa Credit and a Tesco Credit Card (RBS)

and did the last 2 cards work?

This is not the first time I have used this approach, one previously (using a different registration) to buy a mobile phone for a relative.

However, tried again yesterday, and today - got bounced about 1 hour after I raised the order....

"Unfortunately we are unable to process your recent order as our records show you are not eligible for the promotional discount applied to your order. Terms and conditions apply."

Do you think they are checking all orders with this discount code with xbox accessories?

Any other ideas on how to get this working?

I used the code about a month ago with a barclays visa debit card. received the goods couple of days later and the full amount had been taken and £25 had been refunded back to my card at the same time

although ive read on other threads about people not receiving the discount. best off leaving it sealed until youve checked your bank and know youve been refunded. If not you can just return it and get your money back, would only lose out on the £3.95 postage which is worth the risk id say

Yes, they worked fine, got the £25 credit on both cards..

I have just placed an order with the discount - are people having the discount not being honored with the product being sent out at full price? Or does the order cancel when there is a problem with the discount?
#32
Mine is still waiting for dispatch until the 18th but so far I got the e-mail to confirm £8.19.

Let hope it all works out and some people found this useful afterall :santa:

Thanks for that. Did you get an order confirmation before the failure?

I got an email about 30 mins after placing the order that confirmed the order at £8.19 but I am not sure how much faith to put into that.

I have ordered twice using this code, using two different credit cards (goldfish & nationwide) via two different accounts - both of which worked.

I attempted to raise another order (using a 3rd account), and got the rejection. The previous two orders were not for xbox accessories, maybe they are checking orders with these items in them?

I have heard that you can only use the code twice no matter how many cards you have. Also some people have mentioned it does not work with VISA Delta only CC's. :-(

Do you think they look at the postcode for delivery then? Since I used different LXdirect accounts (ie new one each time with different names).
