arrived today and looks quite good, just charging to take it out for a run, not had a decent rc before but as a head up the rear strut that holds the car body on was set much too low on mine so body was rubbing the wheels, once taken top off the car you have to pull the pins and push through the bars at the bottom of suspension strut to raise it and reset it, luckily noticed before taking it out

do you not think they have just tried to copy a Rustler here

It looks nothing like the Rustler, You have to remember that evolution wise, These things all look the same now, Have a look at 1/8 Nitro Buggy's, Them things are so close in design these days the parts are unintentionally interchangeable, Now more than ever it comes down to build and value for money.
babylon
Sorry, I would rather buy a Traxxas.

This is not a quality brand. Sorry

Yer, This or an all plastic Traxxas Bandit for over a 100 quid more, And when it comes to Traxxas, Quality is very subjective.
And RC Electrix may not be well known over here, But it's a different story in the States.

And ModelSport carry parts.

...do you not think they have just tried to copy a Rustler here.?
Just seen the Modelsport spares.

Yup looks good, few bits out of stock but a good variety.

Last thing you want is to pay for a car and you break a wishbone to find out you can get a replacement part.

Looks like this is not the case

The turbo drone is the same as the Hubsan V2 its actually made by Hubsan as an OEM your paying more for a controller that's not going to do anything more then the Hubsan controller, However its an older model to the Hubsan Nano its twice the size this Nano is amazing.
I can now do some great little stunts with this quad, Wirelessmadness appear to also be selling the Hubsan X4 at the same price!! HOT :D

Yes you can that is what I have done as I have huge hands plus you got the more setting options on the X4 controller, you managed to fly it yet?

Yup, flying at night FTW! currently making a video :)

Great YouTube videos and a good price for a 100mph + RC car.
Doesn't look a bad price for one of these. Just because you wouldn't pay that much for an R/C car doesn't make it a bad car. If Audi were selling half price R8s, that would the bargain of the century, but i'm sure those who wouldn't pay £45k for a car would still vote it cold. Voted hot on the likelihood of getting one one these cheaper elsewhere, even though I would not buy one of these myself.
I've given it some heat as these were £899 a couple of months ago, so now down to £629, they are getting to a decent price. When you consider what motor, esc, lipo batteries, telemetry sensors, ipod/iphone docking station and tough components you get with this above and beyond what you get in a cheap one. But it is definitely a niche item and you need to know how to handle it, just look at the numerous youtube videos of people losing control of them at 60mph+ ! I've looked on the site I use for my RC stuff and £629 looks like the standard price now for these
mm this really is cold isnt it.
stuellis
Massively overpriced. If you want to race RC cars pop along to your local club or model shop (Google it), they will help you find good quality gear at a reasonable price. 8)
Wouldn't say its massively overpriced.
Its just a niche item and far beyond the skill set of most normal people.

Could this carry a gopro?

No

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0LUEkqkcRo

It can carry a camera: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0VhTkrStNw

But can it carry the GoPro? No footage of it lifting that?

A lot of RC people like this small camera (ONLY the 808 #16 v2 - this seller makes them - a lot of the rest of the 808's are rubbish).
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180937263580?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

See YouTube (search 808 #16 V2 and remember to set quality to 720p) - It's much lighter, it's cheap (£29), 720p quality is surprisingly good (its no GoPro) and it survives a knock.

Seller now has a full HD one called the Mobius, but its slightly bigger.
Review:

The X4 is too small to carry that camera properly, I tried. It would drop the flight time to about 1 minute, and wouldn't fly very well at all...

What some people do is that they take the camera casing off and just strap the camera and internal electronic components to the bottom of the copter :P that gets rid of most of the weight issue

Tried that too, still too heavy. The 808 #16 cameras are heavier and bigger than other 808 models...

The better model with the LED lights looks good, but I am reluctant as I am guessing all of those flashing lights will ebb away at the battery. Maybe not much, but I would rather a little more battery life than flashy lights. Also it works out cheaper to go without the LEDs.

You can actually turn the LED lights off if you were to fly it during the day :)

Ah, that's clever, was not aware of that!

£24.99 now!!! :)
Wasn't it that price anyway?

Anyway, ordered one! I don't think V2 is worth the extra cash, they didn't really improve much apart from the range...

V2 has some vast improvements, updated things on the mainboard etc. I've lost my V1, it was caught in a cross-wind and crashed into somebody's house at speed! LOL!
Will buy a V2 in due course :)
You've just read the marketing blurb and regurgitated it. Every review I've seen on both versions state the performance is the same. The LED's don't bother me and I'd rather have slightly longer battery life. Anyway, these things are SO much fun. I'm now looking at the larger models, or something like this - Check the videos out! http://www.simplecopter.com/

You need to do the math.

I think people are missing come on guys its a that was selling for over 100 pounds and now its selling for 69 pounds at wireless madness I've watched a few vids of this buggy on YouTube and if you buy a fast charger it does not take long to charge at all. also if you buy a nitro car as a starter car you will give up the hobby as the nitro car will spend more time in the workshop and you'll also Have to consider the cost of fuel
*missing the point :-\

People missing the point.... STARTER CAR.... learn how to control one before giving them a nitro... will be cheaper in the long run ;)
Electronic speed controller looks like a bonus to me, back in the day these were an expensive luxury!

Edited By: stealth666 on Jan 13, 2013 19:33
ur asking for a bit much for £69 can you please show me a brushless car with lipo and 2.4ghz for anything near this sort of money? Its like saying oh dont buy a ford fiesta its only got a 1.6 engine buy a bmw m5 instead :D
pretty crap.
not brushless
not lipo
not 2.4ghz

looks like it would last 2 mins off road, and thats pushing it!

for a starter model, look at something like a ansmann mad rat RTR.

go to your LHS, or buy a decent second hand RTR off the many RC forums or the bay.

Would buying a Spektrum DX4e of ebay be the best thing to do with this?

Shops only sell the 5 channel version for some reason but all the aeroplanes are 4 channel?
Gotta

Been wanting to get the spitfire for years!

ah the Spitfire.....What a beautiful work of art 8)
If only this came with a good transmitter..
Hope to see some more RC plane deals in the future.

Been wanting to get the spitfire for years!

Anyone buying in Birmingham area happy to introduce you into the hobby.

I have parkzone Trojan which im teaching my 7 yr old to fly. Also have dx7 tx x 2 and buddy lead. If you fancy a go to see for yourself what you need to get to grips with. The Trojan has wheels which is good for not needing a throw. This is a very agile model also.

Likewise for the Oxford area. Heck, you can even fly any of my trainers with a buddy lead. If you show an inate ability to control them then you're welcome to try my P51D and compare the differences... X)

FWIW I do sometimes fly in my local park, but only when there are no other people about. It's about the size of two football pitches (actually, there are exactly two football pitches on it) and it can be a handful. By the time someone comes along with a dog (they love these things!) it's too late to worry about getting out of the way - it'll be toast within seconds of coming within reach of enthusiastic gnashers... oO
sptrade123
Haha i dont live in a paper house in any case i have 7 acres of land which is all mine, good luck to anyone trying to fly in a residential area :-P

Nice, now invite all the buyers to come and fly on your 7 acres rather than trying to fly this in a public area.

Let's hope that lipo battery stays nice and safe.
Good luck with the 27 MHz basic tx

If you have bought one do yourself a favour, find the biggest empty field that you can, do not fly too low, range check the transmitter.
