Cracking film this! Can you play the Withnail the drinking game?

London. The '60s. two unemployed actors - acerbic, elegantly wasted Withnail (Richard E. Grant) and the anxiety-ridden "I" (Paul McGann) - drown their frustrations in booze, pills, and lighter fluid. When Withnail's Uncle Monty (Richard Griffiths) offers his cottage, they escape the squalor of their flat for a week in the country, but soon realise they've gone on holiday by mistake when their wits - and friendship - are sorely tested by violent downpours, less-than-hospitable locals, and empty cupboards. An intelligent, superbly acted, and hilarious film. Anchor Bay Entertainment is proud to present Bruce Robinson's semi autobiographical cult favourite in its complete and uncut version.

What a great movie, just ordered one - although the delivery confirmation says it won't arrive before the 10th July. Not that you can grumble for £2!

Here, I hope he's not done that just so he can scold him the way Withnail scolds Uncle Monty...poor kid!

Still one of my favourite films of all time, Richard E Grant definitely in his best role here. I just bought the special edition one posted on here a few weeks ago to replace my aged video copy, it was starting to wear out a bit!

You'll go through every emotion watching this film, but mostly it will be belly-laughs!

If it does it'll go on forever, that film is one memorable quote after another:-D

By the way, HMV have the 20th Anniversary edition (Steelbook afaik) for £5.99 (10% Quidco?), 2 DVD + Soundtrack CD.

Come my boys: night will fall, the sky is beginning to bruise, and we shall be forced to camp.

Hurry and buy this film, you will not be disappointed. I have watched it too many times and it never fails to amuse me. I would buy this if I did not already have the special tin presentation box one and the screenplay book! lol.

Are you a stone or a sponge? ;)

Great price for a DVD.
Unfortunately I have to go against the grain though and say I thought the film was utter pants and incredibly tedius...and well, just not funny. Cannot see what all the fuss is about...maybe it's all over my head. :?
Anyway like I said...a great price for a DVD many deem a classic.

I was gonna say in my previous post, it is one of those films you either love or loathe. Personally I love it, most people I have made watch it loved it, though some thoroughly hated it ;)

Give in to it!

just a quick note on this dvd.. this is the original DVD release of this film, which was an absolute cock-up from start to finish. There's no menu or extras to speak of, the transfer is absolutely horrendous and, probably the biggest mistake, is that is in the incorrect aspect ratio - like a 4:3 picture that has been squashed to 16:9. Yes, it is that bad. I cannot urge you enough to get the remastered version. Great transfer, loads of extras and soundtrack CD with great packaging. At only £4 more from HMV it's a no-brainer.

Great film, terrible DVD.
