We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now.

The only people who don't like this film are scrubbers.
#4
A new triple (or might be quadruple) disc version of this is coming out very soon courtesy of Arrow Video.

This edition seems to be shoddy. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Withnail-and-I-Blu-ray/28096/#Review .
Probably worth waiting for the new one.

Picture quality? Audio quality? Extras?
Or is it just a pretty piece of metal?

I cant guve my own opinion as i dont have it. But looking about some reviews people say the picture quality is disappointing for a blu-ray. Others dont seem bothered by it

Looks like no extras on this though

Thanks. I was asking darkknigh84 because he seemed to be disagreeing with the review I posted, so I was checking if he disagreed re: the contents. I couldn't give a monkey's about the packaging, but I won't but a poor transfer.

Yeah i saw. Some people dont seem to be put off by it though and just happy with having the film.

The arrow release meant to look amazing, comes out in February (bit to expensive for me get straight away). They are my favourite company when it comes to transfers, they are all excellent. Sony often do a great job but they got a few poor transfers to

Best way to cook a chicken ever!
#14
I've given you heat for inspiring me to pre-order the Arrow release!
#15

Wouldn't get this one if I were you. Arrow released a pricy Special Edition set with a coffee table book and the transfer is spectacular (plus it includes Bruce Robinson's second film, How To Make It In Advertising). Arrow are re-releasing the same discs both as a limited slipcase edition (with the second disc) or a standalone amaray version (without the second disc, so just Withnail on its own). I'd definitely recommend getting hold of that - or if you already have the steelbook, putting the Arrow disc in and getting rid of the StudioCanal one?

We're not from London you know!?

You terrible c*nt!
#19
worst film ever.

A few shafts of sunlight sneak through the curtains and illuminate a living room.
Victorian heirlooms, antique furniture and a pair of ice skates. Empty bottles
everywhere. Marwood is in a chair, smoking a cigarette and sweating anxiety. Looks
at his thumbs. He gets up gingerly and walks into a kitchen full of bottles, washing up
and dead flowers in black water. He lights the stove and dumps the kettle on it. Now
he's down the stairs and at Withnail's door, knocking.

Coming out in February as someone else mentioned in this thread? I'd be interested, I used to collect steel books, have some worth a lot and most aren't.

Anyway I'm only interested in picture quality these days not crap packaging
#24
seriously.. whats to like? its kinda weird and boring.
#25
This was the old Anchor Bay transfer, absolutely awful. The recent Arrow transfer is superb. I couldn't afford the special edition, but my friend has it,so will be buying the cheaper reissue in February. Good find for collectors of steelbook releases though.

That's your opinion, in this world not everyone agrees. Others will share your view and some others won't. I suggest you don't worry about it and move on.
