Ok, bit of a strange one this. An unusually styled coffee maker for one. Big reduction and possibly good as a gift but a little limited maybe? 4 Colours available. Quidco too.

Small, speedy and superb looking, the WMF 1 is a both a filter coffee machine and a design object. It makes one 125ml cup of fresh coffee in under a minute. The integrated water tank contains just the amount of water you need for one cup. Fill the WMF 1s reservoir up to the max mark, open the coffee holder and fill with a coffee pad. Place the porcelain cup (supplied) in the neat recess and press the release button. When the light stops flashing, your freshly-brewed cup of coffee will be ready.

The WMF 1 takes any coffee pad, pod or bag (dia. 55-70mm), available from most supermarkets.

Maybe the fact that it only makes you 125ml of coffee? About a third of a mug. Also, because of the shape of the dispenser, if you break the cup you wouldnt be able to use a different one... Its definitely very cute, but I have a cheap plastic filter paper holder that sits on top of any mug, I pop the coffee in there, add hot water and voila, job done, much cheaper, and a bigger cuppa!

I did start the thread by saying 'Ok, bit of a strange one this'.
#8
strange but cool, like it.
Did find an Aussie blog site though with a couple of people claiming they couldn't find coffee pads that fit, despite the claim it takes any conventional pad, pod or bag.
#9
espresso as opposed to coffee?

No my Cup of Tea :o)
#11
another under the cupboard item
#12
how much is the coffee to go in it?
what makes of coffee can you get?

#13
read a negative review on this (in German) today - especially that it's loud and you can't see how much water is in the cup.

Eh, surely you fill it up to the max 1 cup mark, it does it's thing, ie it flashes, and when it stops flashing and making a noise you have 1 cup of coffee. Then you remove the cup and drink. Why would you need to see how much water is in the cup?

hmm, nice and tacky for lazy people with no friends

Thanks for that. I was thinking of getting this, as I like coffee but I can't lift the kettle, so this looks great for the times when I don't have anyone to help make me a cuppa.

Under the cupboard?

I think the poster is referring to it as a type of item you use a couple of times then put "under the cupboard" never to be seen again. Like a popcorn maker, a soda stream, or a chocolate fountain.

I put all my stuff "in the cupboard" .. if I put them under the cupboard I would have to dig a hole in the floor.

Unfortunately all out of stock now. I was quite tempted by this as I assume it takes Senseo pods. Just purchased 10 packs of the Colombian variety pods for £4.95 at the 99p Shop today!

Ah well. Probably would have ended up 'under' my cupboard as well! ;-)

everything is out of stock

I checked the stock this aft on a couple of colours and there were 999! I find it hard to believe they have all been sold in that time. :o

This is so impractical and just stupid. I mean what's the point? Did they make it that impractical to make it look stylish? I'd rather have a coffee maker you can use any cup in than one that's molded to fit a certain cup. Such an idea is pure stupidity unless you're trying to make money on the cups in which case perhaps that's business genius? It's very impractical though. Save your money on a real, practical coffee maker not this peice of junk.

Am i the only person to have mis-read the title and thought it was a WWF wrestling coffee maker, now that would be strange

Have you seen kettle tippers? A gadget you can buy that means you just tip the kettle to fill your cup, you don't have to lift it. I see there are some on Ebay just now. I get flare ups of viral arthritis and I know how hard it can be to lift or pour or even fill a kettle. Even turning on a tap is impossible.

These are instore at this price aswell.
We saw the 1st post about these, popped out last night, and got home to find them out of stock. luckily we were off to bluewater today and they had them on the shelf for the same price. Bought one for ourselves and one as a present for a family member.

Going to buy a taster pack of the pods to see what ones we like. Can anyone suggest any cheap online suppliers for once we've found our favourites.

How will you decide who gets a cuppa? Since only of you at a time will be able to have one, as it only takes that cup, lol.
#29
Just received an e-mail from John Lewis and they are back in stock
#30
Found a problem with these, mine at least. Unless you make coffee constantly the first brew is only lukewarm, so you need to run it at least once without a pod in place, then refill and add coffee pod for second proper boil.
Kind of defeats the 1 cup, 1 boil, appeal.
Coffee tastes great though, Dowe Egberts (SIC) Senseo fit fine.

It only takes a minute so I'm sure you could unselfishly make one for your partner/friend and then one for yourself :p

What's the pressure like in these machines? Do you still get the same frothy crema layer as if you were using a Senseo coffee maker?

Cheers,

SirHugo

Thanks for the swift reply Steven. Think I'm going to have to go for it. Trouble is, which colour? :)
#35
I got a red one (wife's choice) but can't imagine there's really much in it :-D
#36
Just bought one instore today. Went for the red one.

More available now, contemplating of getting one just for display! it looks way too cool!
#38
Watch it when you pull the pod holder out. it's really easy to press the start button at the same time, cue mad scramble to unplug the machine before it boils itself to death or spurts hot water all over the counter.
Nice looks and good coffee, but I can see why they're reduced.
#39
oh and this should be un-expired, plenty in stock.
#40
This is STILL in stock, un-expire!
