Local Smyths in Leeds had a couple priced up at £24.99. Was told the price is set to go active tomorrow but still managed to get it at the discount price.

New.
Wow, that's a really good find! Well spotted and thanks for sharing the deal. :)
#4
God dam amazing deal that :) heated up

Great price if you can find it in store. Heat given.

It's slightly worrying that the game has lost nearly half it's value in a month or so. Does that mean it's bad, or that ps4 games are finally reaching a sensible price that people are willing to pay?

Think this is going to reach 'Hottest Deal of the day' pretty quickly...

Games losing value so quickly is becoming more common recently. Buying games brand new just doesn't seem worth it now and a little patience can save a lot of money. :)

anecdotally all I've heard is nothing but positive reviews.

#11

#12

If you own both consoles then definitely get the PS4 version you saw in stock because it'll doubtlessly be superior to the Xbox One version.

So in answer to your question, that'll be a definite yes then.

It's like a PS3 game graphics wise?! I'd say it's rather a lot better looking than that! And a great game too, cracking price

except, it's not a 'definite' yes: "As such, once again it's the PS4 release that is our preferred console choice. However, the differences between the two consoles are minor and Wolfenstein is really a worthwhile purchase no matter which one of these systems you own."

My initial comment was based on past evidence of multiplatform games whereby I don't recall there having been one single instance so far of a game being objectively better on Xbox One than it is on PS4.

Regardless, Digital Foundry's excellent indepth analysis once more shows the PS4 version to be objectively the best version, PC excepted.

Except it is a definite yes. All you've done is to have selectively quoted an opinion from said article while having omitted to reference the fact that the PS4 version of the game is objectively the better console version. I refer to,

"...the PS4 gains an advantage with smaller drops in resolution that occur less frequently than they do on Xbox One. Metrics in the area of 1760x1080 are found on PS4, while on the Xbox One this can drop to an extreme of 960x1080 in some scenes. This is usually identifiable by an increase in the amount of jaggies on screen, along with a slightly fuzzier appearance"

and,

"shadow quality on the PS4 is a match for the PC game with the effect at its second highest setting, although on the Xbox One these elements appear to operate using lower PCF (percentage closer filtering) sample counts which results in a more jagged shadows."

and,

"The PS4 holds up the closest in delivering a native 1080p experience at 60fps"

So, yes, the game is objectively superior on PS4 relative to Xbox One.

That's such a good price, we have a Smyths Toy store not to far away from me now. I would love a copy at that price but I won't know if I can afford it until next week by which time they will of probably sold out or upped the price. Good price for those that can get it though. Heat Added. :)

So, yes, the game is objectively superior on PS4 relative to Xbox One.

It may be better graphically but you'd have to sit both next to each other to notice, as well have decent 1080p TVs, Eurogamer use specialist equipment to get their results and look at stuff frame by frame.

But on XB1 you can snap TV alongside the game to keep an eye on the footy or during the game you can say "Xbox watch Sky Sports 1" and it'll immediately switch everything to Sky Sports 1 and if you fancy getting back to the game "Xbox play Wolfienstien" and it will take you immediately back to where you were right in the heat of battle with ZERO load times or load screens, as long as you havent loaded another game in the mean time you'll be able to go straight back to where you were anytime you want days later.

Along with that most people consider the Xbox controller superior especially for FPS games so I know what objectively version I think is better and it aint PS4 with its ever so slightly better graphics.

According to the online store checker yes they have them in stock. I'd go and get one if you want it or they might run out. My local store is showing low stock (I assume only a few left) :)

Haha you're most welcome. I hope you get a copy, it looks a great game unfortunently I can't afford it never mind anything else at the moment. Hopefully though there will be a copy waiting for you when you get to the store :)
